Powering all four vehicles will be the same 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) that powers the Celerio. Just so you know, MSI has recently set up a manufacturing line at Manesar under a JV with its supplier - Magneti Marelli. This move will help Maruti Suzuki to fulfil the rising demand for AMT-equipped versions of its cars.
Magneti, a Fiat Group owned company, supplies its kits to both Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors, and is in Joint venture with MSI since 2007. Formed with an investment of Rs. 75 crore, Magneti has a controlling 51 per cent stakes in the JV, whereas Maruti and Suzuki Motor Corporation own 19 percent and 30 per cent respectively.
