Maserati has officially launched the Levante SUV in India. This is the company's first SUV in India and prices start at Rs. 1.45 crores (ex-showroom India). Maserati has launched the Levante in two trims: the luxury-orientated GranLusso and the GranSport. The new Maserati Levante is available at all three dealers in India, one in Mumbai, Bangalore and New Delhi each.
Internationally, the Levante is available with both a 3.0-litre petrol and diesel engine. The only engine available in India at this time though will be the diesel 3-litre unit that makes 271 bhp of peak power and 600 Nm of peak torque. The new engine, made by VM Motori is the same unit that also makes an appearance in the Ghibli and the Quattroporte. With 90 per cent of torque available under 2000 rpm, the Levante goes from 0-100 kmph in just 6.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 230 kmph. The Levante is mated to an eight speed automatic gearbox. The Levante also gets an optional 'Active Sound' exhaust that changes the exhaust tone depending on the mode the driver puts the car in.
Bojan Jankulovski, Head of Operations, Maserati India, said, "The introduction of 2018 Levante is our commitment to satisfy the significantly increasing demand for premium SUVs in India. The design, exclusivity and performance are the key characteristics when describing this new Maserati; and will turn out to be a distinguishing factor for the Trident in the luxury SUV space."
Other noteworthy mechanical bits include a traditional hydraulic steering, torque vectoring chassis and Q4 all-wheel-drive. The Levante gets driving modes, Auto Normal, Auto Sport and Auto Manual and a forth Auto Off-Road mode that increases the ride height of the Levante.

The Levante has been built by making extensive use of lightweight materials, which has helped in achieving an ideal 50:50 weight distribution and the segment's lowest center of gravity. Inside it comes with the Maserati Touch Control system, which has also been completely updated to offer additional functions and convenience with the 8.4" high-resolution screen and rotary control on the central tunnel.
The interior boasts of premium leather, fine woods, platinum-effect metals, handcrafted contrast stitching, and much more. The SUV also comes with optional upgrades that include sound systems created in association with Bowers & Wilkins or Harman Kardon.
