Six-time world motorcycling champion Max Biaggi is targeting more records with the Voxan Wattman. After setting 11 electric land speed records in 2020, the Voxan Wattman is now being further optimised to prepare for another speed challenge in the under 300 kg category this year. Biaggi will once again ride the machine, and he already holds the most coveted world record, in the "partially streamlined electric motorcycle over 300 kg" class, with a speed of 366.94 kmph. In November 2020, during those attempts, the Voxan Wattman achieved an instantaneous speed of 408 kmph.

"I cannot believe the work we've done in just a few months. Last November, we were wondering if we'd be able to hit 400 kmph, but now that speed is just the starting point for our work! It's beyond that pivotal value that we are learning and progressing. With our motivation, the team spirit at Voxan and our hunger to excel, I have no doubt whatsoever that we will succeed," said Biaggi.

The Monagesque Venturi Group, which owns Voxan, wants to attempt more records, and the record runs were originally supposed to take place in July 2020 on the Bolivian salt lake Uyuni. With COVID-19 putting a spanner in those plans, the record runs will now be held later this year at the runway of Chateauroux airfield in France. In preparation for this latest attempt, and to optimise the Wattman for this type of surface, the engine and transmission have been tweaked with the usual expert collaboration of Michelin, partner and official tyre supplier.
In order to beat that record, the engineering team at Venturi/Voxan have also worked on the motorcycle's air penetration and stability. Voxan's announcement that the brand will continue its record hunt, and is seen as a reaction to British motorcycle brand White Motorcycle Concepts, which has also announced new record attempts with its WMC250EV electric motorcycle.
