The latest convertible to join the who's who in the world of cars, aka the BMW M4, made us wait a long time to tread in to our lives. This new addition to BMW M's line-up brings together the performance observed on both, the BMW M3 Sedan and the new BMW M4 Coupe, and yet manages to establish an identity of its own, thanks to well, a lot of things. First, there's the distinctive appearance, then the open-top, but that's not all. Here's what you need to know about this Bimmer:
a. Design:
The BMW M4 Convertible shares a few lines here and there with its open-top 4 Series siblings and sports a silhouette that will set your heart racing. Its primary design elements include a signature power dome for the bonnet, twinstalk exterior mirrors, flared front and rear wheel arches and forged lightalloy wheels.
b. Engine:
The BMW M4 Convertible is powered by a newly developed 3.0-litre 6-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology. The motor unit puts out 425 horses along with a peak torque of 550 Nm. It can go from standstill to 100Km/h in just 4.4 seconds. As far as transmission is concerned, power is sent to the car's rear-wheels via a 6-speed manual or the optional 7-speed M Double Clutch Transmission.
c. Lightweight construction:
Following in the footsteps of the BMW M3 Sedan and BMW M4 Coupe, the BMW M4 Convertible also adheres to the company's intelligent lightweight construction principle. For starters, the bonnet and front side panels are made from aluminium. Furthermore, the M4 convertible's construction also features the use of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) in many areas, including the drive shaft, and the precision strut in the engine compartment.
Oh, and did we tell you that the three-section folding metal roof of the BMW M4 Convertible opens in about 20 seconds?
