VEMO, an energy transport operator in Mexico, recently purchased 1,000 units of the BYD D1 electric MPV, for its taxi fleet. The EVs were bought from BYD Mexico, and the company has already added 200 units to its fleet, which are operational in the country. The remaining units will be added to the fleet in a phased manner. BYD claims that the 1,000 units of D1 form the largest EV taxi fleet outside of China, and it will offer over 3,000 jobs. The company says that BYD and VEMO will join hands to develop electrified transportation in Mexico and provide great sustainable mobility options for local people.
Alejandro Rosette, Co-director of Mobility Platforms of VEMO, said, "Having BYD's D1 models as part of the VEMO's electric fleet will allow us to increase our operational capabilities with mobility platforms and the availability of our recharging infrastructure. The fleet can save 20,000 tons of carbon emissions each year, which is equivalent to planting 1 million trees. We believe that promoting sustainable development through green products will benefit the Mexican people, as well as people around the world."

The all-electric D1 is equipped with BYD's Blade Battery, providing an NEDC driving range of up to 418 km. The right rear door of the MPV comes with a sliding function that offers passengers easy access to get in and out of the car and can avoid blind spot accidents. The MPV also comes with a spacious rear section.
Recently BYD India also announced making Safe Drive its exclusive rental partner in Nepal. Self Drive Nepal, a subsidiary of Spark Group bought 50 units of the BYD e6 electric MPV, which was launched in India last year. Back then, the company had claimed that the deal with Self Drive was the single largest order for Electric Vehicle Fleet Operation in South Asia received by BYD.
