MG Motor India recently launched a new Savvy 7-seater variant of the Gloster SUV priced at Rs. 37.28 lakh (ex-showroom). The Chinese-owned British carmaker is now preparing to expand its Hector range by adding a new Shine variant, which will go on sale on August 12, 2021. Apart from the launch date, no details of the new Shine variant are yet to be revealed. Currently, the SUV is available in four variants - Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. The upcoming variant is likely to be positioned between the Super and Smart trims.

The MG Hector Shine variant was spotted at a dealership yead ahead of launch
The upcoming Shine variant was recently spied at a dealership yard ahead of its launch. As per the leaked images, the new Shine variant will feature a single pane sunroof, unlike the panoramic sunroof that is available on the higher variants of the Hector. We can expect it to be slightly lighter on the feature front than the Smart trim. The overall aesthetics are likely to remain untouched.
The MG Hector was first launched in 2019, marking the entry of China's SAIC-owned British brand in India. The Hector was one of the first SUVs to come with a fully connected car technology in the SUV space, and soon became a popular choice among SUV buyers in the Indian market. MG introduced the Hector facelift in the country earlier this year with some cosmetic changes and a bunch of new and updated features.

As of now, the mechanical details of the upcoming Shine mid-variant remain under wraps. It remains to be seen whether it would be offered in both petrol and diesel options or either of two. The 2021 Hector comes with a choice of petrol and diesel engines - 1.5-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel. The petrol and petrol-hybrid versions make 141 bhp and 250 Nm torque and come paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox and an optional DCT automatic for the petrol-only version. The diesel engine develops 168 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque and comes paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard.
