Morris Garages India has announced reintroducing the 'MG Care At Home' programme, under which the company offers doorstep vehicle servicing and sanitisation. The carmaker says that the service has been relaunched following increased demand from customers, who wanted to avail the services at the doorstep amidst the ongoing second wave of the coronavirus. Under this initiative, MG Motor India is offering select, contactless services at the customers' homes, which include car sanitisation and fumigation, general car check-up, and car dry wash in addition to minor repairs and fitments.

Commenting on the announcement, Gaurav Gupta, Chief Commercial Officer and Senior Vice President, MG Motor India, "Our aim is to offer our customers the assurance and services at the comfort of their homes in the New Normal. While social distancing and required norms are adhered to on-site, the staff undergoes an additional layer of check prior to visiting the customers' homes. This initiative is in addition to various other contactless programs introduced by MG like MG V Phy - a voice-guided audio demonstration at our dealerships and a digital suite of experiences for online car purchase."
MG service technicians carry out the services using special portable equipment that enables facilities like MGerm Clean fumigation, dry wash, and some minor repairs. Interested customers can avail MG Care services via the MY MG customer App. Having said that, with most Indian states coming out of a lockdown, customers can now also get their vehicle services at authorised MG service centres, which are currently spread across a wide network of 245 touchpoints.

Having said that, MG is not the car manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki India, Tata Motors, and Ford India, among others, have also been offering doorstep services. In fact, Maruti Suzuki has been offering doorstep for the last couple of year, even before the covid-19 pandemic came into the picture, with its 'Service on Wheels' programme - a mobile workshop unit. Tata Motors' Door Step Service, similar to Maruti, is also an extended workshop facility that is mobile and allows customers to not travel long distances for servicing appointments. Ford India, on the other hand, has been offering doorstep service as part of its Dial-A-Ford programme, and a customer can schedule one online.
