The second-generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio is all set to go on sale in India today, November 10, 2021. The compact hatch was launched in 2014 and is receiving a generation upgrade after seven years. The company is already accepting pre-bookings for the new Celerio for a token of Rs. 11,000. Now, the car was supposed to be launched in India much sooner, however, challenges imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic forced Maruti Suzuki India to postpone the launch. Now that it's set to go on sale, the big question is, how will the company price the 2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio? Well, here's what we think.

The previous-gen Maruti Suzuki Celerio was priced between Rs. 4.66 lakh to Rs. 6 lakh, and the new-gen Celerio will come with a price hike

Now the outgoing Maruti Suzuki Celerio is priced between Rs. 4.66 lakh to Rs. 6 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Considering the new-gen model is likely to be based on a new platform, possibly the Heartect, and it's expected to come with upmarket styling and features, the new-gen Celerio will come with a price hike. Now, if you had to say, the Celerio's immediate rival in the market would be the Tata Tiago, and it is priced between Rs. 4.99 lakh and Rs. 7.04 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Considering Maruti always goes for competitive pricing, we would expect the new-gen Celerio to be priced between Rs. 4.9 lakh and Rs. 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). However, these will most definitely be introductory pricing, and the carmaker is likely to revise them in January 2022.

The model in the photo is the top-spec variant, which gets features like a new grille, new headlamps, a new bumper, body-coloured door handles and ORVMs with integrated turn signal lights. Spy photos have revealed that the car will also come with alloy wheels, new taillamps, and a rear windshield wiper.

As per leaked details, the Indo-Japanese is likely to offer the Celerio hatchback in a total of 7 variants across four trim choices - LXI, VXI, ZXI and ZXI+. Out of seven variants, four trims will be offered with a manual gearbox, while the remaining three trims will get an AMT. Under the hood, the 2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio hatchback is expected to be powered by a new 1.0-litre K-Series Dual Jet, Dual VVT petrol engine, which will get segment-first idle Start-Stop technology. Maruti claims that the new Celerio will be the most fuel-efficient petrol car in India.
