Next Generation Audi A4 Design
1. While Audi has adopted a new design language on the new generation A4, the styling looks more evolutionary than revolutionary. A single-frame grille dawns the front coupled with a curved hood, while the angular shaped Matrix LED headlights are noticeably different. The sculpted lines give the model and athletic appearance, which is complemented by 17-inch alloy wheels.
2. The design further gets improvements as the rear gets sharp LED tail lights that taper into the boot-lid. With the A4, Audi has replicated most of its design elements already seen on other models, but the new signature LED DRLs give the sedan its unique identity. However, the company does say that 90 per cent of the car is entirely new.
3. The new generation Audi A4 is built on Volkswagen's MLB platform, which also underpins the company's other important offerings like the Q7, but unlike the SUV, the model looks more agile, visibly lighter and feels catered to a younger demographic.

4. In addition to the visible changes, the new A4 has grown in dimensions and is now larger and wider over its predecessor. It has also seen a dramatic weight loss of 120 kg with abundance of aluminium used in its construction including the suspension components. The wheelbase too is larger by 12mm over the outgoing model, and has been optimised for improved rear seat comfort. As a result, what you get is better legroom at the rear, which will be appreciated by those who prefer to be chauffeur driven.
5. Moving inside, the cabin isn't the most dramatic as its rivals, and follows a single slab design instead. You get the single line air-con vents, similar to the Q7, while there is an abundance of soft materials, wood finish and black leather seats. What you also get is the lovely Virtual Cockpit that replaces the conventional instrument cluster and has a host of information on display including navigation, car info and infotainment details.

The new A4 is loaded on tech to the brink with features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Heads-up Display (HUD), updated Audi MMI system with a 7-inch display unit; 755-watt Bang & Olufsen 3D audio system with 19 speakers, park assist as well as three-zone climate control for the driver, passenger and rear seat occupants.

7. While the improvement and new features were only expected, Audi has managed to pull out a surprise with the Indian version as it plonks the 1.4-litre TFSI petrol engine in the sedan. The 1.8-litre petrol motor seen on the outgoing model has been omitted for the new generation version, and instead the 1.4-litre turbo petrol takes the centre stage. While it loses out on some horses, the motor is still capable of churning out 150bhp and 250Nm of torque, whilst paired to a 7-speed automatic transmission and does not fail to impress.
8. The 2.0-litre diesel engine will also make it to the new generation Audi A4 and will be introduced at a later stage. The new 1.4-litre TFSI nevertheless, is efficient as well over the bigger engine with Audi claiming a fuel efficiency of 17 km/l. Audi could also offer the 2.0-litre TFSI petrol motor in the future, which will be appreciated by the enthusiasts.

9. While the model may not be dramatically new to look at, it definitely packs in a whole lot more and that will be exciting a lot of buyers and keeps up with rivals including Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 Series, Volvo S60 and the Jaguar XE.
10. The next generation Audi A4 will be locally assembled in the country at the automaker's Aurangabad plant, and prices are expected to be in the vicinity of Rs. 32 lakh (ex-showroom). The competitive pricing will help the Ingolstadt car maker to regain its lead in the Indian luxury car market as the new A4 emerges as a promising offering.
