The new A4 competes in a highly aggressive segment currently dominated by Mercedes-Benz. With the latest generation, the four rings' car maker has moved up a notch higher offering enhanced design, powertrain option and new technological features on its most popular offering in India. The new generation A4 also happens to be one of the first models in the luxury car space to use an engine as small as the 1.4-litre turbocharged TFSI petrol unit, which offers just the right amount of power couple with efficiency. Talking about the new generation Audi A4, the model is a healthy 120 kg lighter than its predecessor with aluminium used in abundance in its construction; whereas Volkswagen's flexible MLB Evo platform underpins the sedan. The design is evolutionary on the model, with the front getting a curved bonnet, followed by a the single-frame trapezoidal grille and the distinctive new headlights with Matrix LEDs. You also get the new signature LED DRLs on the A4, which give the model its unique identity within the Audi stable. The side profile retains the poised appearance, while the rear gets sharp LED tail lights, and tapered boot-lid, which looks sleek and athletic.
On the inside the model derives several details from the new generation Q7, and several other Audi models, with key elements like the single-slab dashboard taking a prominent stance. That said, it is the all-new Audi Virtual Cockpit that happens to be the USP of the new A4's cabin, with the HD display unit putting all the essential information in front of your eyes. Having debuted on the TT, the feature is getting increasingly common across all Audi models and something we are certainly happy about.
