The Tokyo Olympics 2020 has been a grand and successful affair for India. India got several gold, silver and bronze medals in its pool and automakers have been generous enough to honour these sportspersons with their latest offerings. Mahindra has been one of the pioneers and recently we saw Anand Mahindra taking to Twitter announcing presenting brand new and upcoming Mahindra XUV700s to Neeraj Chopra who made it to the headlines after bagging a gold medal for our nation in Javelin. Now Mahindra will also design three Javelin Editions of the XUV700 for Neeraj Chopra, Avani Lekhara and Sumit Antil, all who bagged gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Recently, Mahindra also trademarked the name 'Javelin' and Anand Mahindra took to Twitter confirming that the name will be used on a special edition of the upcoming XUV700 SUV. In the tweet directed towards Pratap Bose, the Chief Design Officer, Auto & Farm Sectors- Mahindra & Mahindra, Anand Mahindra requested him to design three XUV700 Javelin Edition SUVs. The first unit of the XUV700 Javelin Edition will be presented to Neeraj Chopra who secured a gold medal in javelin throw for India at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The second unit of the XUV700 Javelin Edition will go to Avani Lekhara who is now part of the Indian history as the first woman to win a gold medal at Paralympics. She was participating in the women's 10m Air Rifle SH1 event. The third unit of the XUV700 Javelin Edition will be given to Sumit Antil who won a gold in the javelin throw event at the Paralympics.

The Mahindra XUV700 excites with its starting price of Rs. 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom), undercutting several compact SUVs as well as midsize offerings.
Now details of all the changes made to the Javelin Edition are yet to be revealed but we expect minor cosmetic tweaks or special body colours. Then, Mahindra will also modify two of the three units of the XUV700 with special modifications for the especially abled for better ingress-egress and these two SUVs will be designed for Avani Lekhara and Sumit Antil. The Mahindra XUV700 is expected to hit showrooms later this month. The automaker has already announced prices for lower variants that start at Rs. 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards, while prices for the remaining range will be announced later when the SUV officially goes on sale in our market.
