The new-generation Mahindra Scorpio is one of the highly anticipated models from the Indian automaker's stable. With the XUV700 flagship SUV already on sale, all eyes are now on the all-new Scorpio eagerly awaiting its arrival in the country. The SUV is likely to be launched sometime towards the end of 2021 or early 2022. A prototype model of the Scorpio has been spotted on test in the Ladakh region. The test mule was captured on camera performing high-altitude testing near Gurudwara Pathar Sahib in Leh.

As seen in the leaked picture, the SUV is draped under camouflage serving its purpose to conceal details, and we only get to see the SUV in profile. However, the test mule appears to be a base model sporting steel rims. Based on the previous spy images, the SUV will get a new chrome grille with the brand's new logo, LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED foglamps, side-step, roof rails, high-mounted stop lamp, rear spoiler, and more.

We also don't get to see the cabin of the SUV in these pictures. Previous images suggest that the new Scorpio's interior will be a bit upmarket. It is likely to get a boxy dashboard with a new touchscreen infotainment system, several dials and buttons for in-car controls, an electric sunroof, leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, among others.
As for engine specifications, the new-gen Scorpio is likely to be powered by turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, also seen on the all-new Thar. The 2.0-litre mStallion engine is tuned to produce 150 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque, whereas the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel develops 130 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. Both engines will come with a 6-speed manual and an optional 6-speed torque convertor automatic unit.
