The Volkswagen Touareg has been around for a while now and is all set to move into its next generation at the upcoming 2017 LA Motor Show. Ahead of its debut, the new generation Volkswagen Touareg was caught testing in China barring any camouflage. The all-new Touareg looks sharper in the new spy images, and borrows from the larger Volkswagen Atlas. While the Touareg is not on sale in India anymore, the new generation version will be launched internationally during the second half of 2018.
The spy images reveal a more evolved design languages on the new generation Volkswagen Touareg. The styling is in-line with the Atlas with the wide VW family grille, LED headlamps and new sharp bumpers. The roofline looks sharp, while the wraparound taillights are all-LED. Details on the cabin of the new Touareg weren't visible in the spy shots, but much like the exterior, the interior will also be inspired from the new Atlas.

The next generation Volkswagen Touareg will also be moving to the MLB Evo platform in the VW Group. The platform is lighter and more flexible and underpins a host of offerings including the more premium Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne as well as the upcoming Lamborghini Urus performance SUV.
Under the hood, the all-new Volkswagen Touareg is expected to draw power from 2-litre petrol and diesel engines on the base models, while the premium variants will get the 3-litre V6 petrol and diesel engines. The powertrain options will come paired to an 8-speed DSG transmission with All-Wheel Drive (AWD) offered as optional. There are also rumours of a hybrid version on the Touareg, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

The 2019 Volkswagen Touareg wil be entering into a space that has a host of offerings including the Volvo XC90, Land Rover Discovery, BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE and the likes. In India, the Touareg is a long forgotten product in the company's stable and it is currently the Tiguan that emerges as the brand's flagship offering.
