Next Generation Volvo XC60 Could Make Its Debut At 2017 Geneva Motor Show
The next generation Volvo XC60 is expected to make its global premiere at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March next year, as per latest reports. The Geneva Motor Show is one of the most important auto shows globally and will serve as a major platform for the new XC60 that shares underpinnings with the XC90 and S90 models. The new XC60 will also compete with the Jaguar F-Pace, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5 and the likes in the segment.

The Geneva Motor Show is one of the biggest and extremely important events in the automotive world and carmakers will be debuting some very important models at the annual show. While we already know that the next generation Maruti Suzuki Swift will be launched, Auto Express now reports that the next generation Volvo XC60 will also make its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show.
Scheduled in March next year, the Swiss event will see the Geely owned Volvo introduce the next generation XC60 that will be replacing the outgoing model. The current generation of the premium compact SUV has been around since 2008 and competes with the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Jaguar F-Pace and the Audi Q5 in the segment.

The 2017 Volvo XC60 will see a major overhaul when compared to the outgoing version. The new generation model will be based on the flexible SPA architecture that made its debut on the XC90 in Volvo's line-up and also underpins the S90 and V90 models. The wheelbase however will be shorter than the flagship SUV and will be paired with similar styling. Previous spy shots of the XC60 have revealed that the premium SUV will closely resemble the XC90 in terms of design, so expect to see the new trademark chrome grille flanked by 'Thor's Hammer' LED headlights and vertical tail lights at the rear. The model will also adopt a more boxy profile, as compared to the current model's sweptback look.
Furthermore, the next generation Volvo XC60's cabin is expected to carry the same design language as the XC90, which is certainly one of the more impressive ones in the segment. So, expect to a host of soft touch materials, leather upholstered seats, a giant touchscreen infotainment system dominating the centre console among other bits. The SUV is likely to continue its five-seater setup like the current model.

Coming to the powertrain, the new modular architecture will help Volvo introduce more engine options on the new Volvo XC60. Engine options will include a host of turbocharged petrol and diesel options, while there will also be a Twin-Electric petrol-electric plug-in hybrid engine on the T8 Hybrid variant and is expected to make around 400bhp of power.
The 2017 Volvo XC60 will be making it to India some time in early 2018 and will be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). Going by the response received by the XC90 and S90 in the country, Volvo India will certainly be looking forward to introducing the new XC60 as well, to follow the success streak. The Swedish automaker recently introduced the 2017 editions of the V40 and V40 Cross Country in India.
