Electric vehicle manufacturer Okinawa Autotech launched its new flagship scooter - Okinawa Praise in India. The company had commenced bookings for the scooter last month on November 24 for Rs. 2000, and in less than one month the company has already received over 300 bookings for the new electric scooter. Interestingly, up until the launch of the Praise e-Scooter, the company hadn't revealed any detail or images of the scooter, which makes these bookings numbers quite impressive. The electric scooter is the second offering from the company after the Ridge entry-level e-scooter was launched earlier this year.

The new Okinawa Praise is priced at Rs. 59,889 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Praise is a more premium offering and comes with a bunch of best-in-class features like keyless start, remote locking, Anti-theft function, and side stand sensor that does not allow the vehicle to start when the side stand is engaged. Furthermore, the scooter comes with LED headlamp with DRLs and LED rear indicators.
Equipment-wise, the new Okinawa Praise runs on a set of smart 12-inch alloy wheels, shod in 90/90 MRF tubeless tyres. The front wheel comes with dual disc brakes up front and a single disc at the rear, assisted by E-ABS (Electronic - Assisted Braking System). Up front, the scooter comes with hydraulic telescopic forks and hydraulic rear dual shock absorbers. The scooter also gets a 19.5-litre under seat storage compartment.

Mechanical include an electric motor powered by a 72V/45 Ah VRLA, (Lead Acid) battery that offers a power output if 2500 Watt, which roughly is about 3.34 bhp. The Okinawa Praise offers and range of 170 km to 200 km depending on the usage and comes in three speed modes - Economy (35 kmph), Sporty (65 kmph) and Turbo (75 kmph - best-in-class). The battery takes about 6-8 hours to get fully charged.
Interestingly, the company has also introduced a new light-weight Lithium-ion battery, the increases the range of the scooter by 10-15 per cent and can be fully charged in about 1-2 hours. Okinawa will offer the batter in its scooter, possibly the Praise, 2-3 months later and it will come at a premium of Rs. 5000 to Rs. 6000 over the asking price of the Lead Acid battery version of the Praise.
