Piaggio Vehicles India today added a new light commercial vehicle (LCV) to its line-up in India - the Porter 700. Priced at Rs. 3.31 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) the company's newest addition to the last mile transportation category, the Porter 700, as the name suggests comes with a payload of 700 kg. This one is an upgrade to the already on sale Piaggio Porter 600. The Porter 700 is Bharat Stage IV a.k.a. BS-IV compliant and goes up against the likes of Mahindra Jetto and Tata Ace.
Talking about the new Porter 700, Diego Graffi, CEO Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited (PVPL) said , "Anticipating our new age customer's needs, the Porter 700 has been conceived as a modern, stylish vehicle with many new features and yet delivering its core values of exceptional reliability, fuel efficiency and earn ability", for Piaggio to continue its dominance in the last mile transportation cargo segment."
The Piaggio Porter 700 has a kerb weight of 755 kg
Visually, the Piaggio Porter 700 is pretty much identical to the Porter 600 and is more like a bigger version of it. In terms of dimensions, the Porter 700 is 3544 mm in length, 1460 mm in width and 1738 mm in height. The LCV offers a wheelbase of 1820 mm, which is 170 mm longer than the wheelbase of the Porter 600. The cargo deck alone is 1950 mm long and 1400 mm wide and comes with a 30 sq.ft. loading area. The Porter 700 has a kerb weight of 755 kg.
The Piaggio Porter 700 comes with single cab layout suitable for two persons and comes with ergonomically designed seats and steering wheel. Powering the vehicle is a BS-IV compliant 652 cc single-cylinder, the engine that churns out about 15 bhp and develops 40 Nm of peak torque. The motor is mated to a first-of-its-kind floor mounted synchronised 5-speed manual gearbox. The Porter 700 also comes with an efficient snorkel system and offers a fuel efficiency of 26 kmpl.
The Porter 700 comes with a warranty of 2 years/75,000 km
Talking about the warranty and service plans for the Porter 700, Graffi said, "The new Porter 700 comes with 2 years or 75,000 km extended warranty. Today, the company is confident the Porter 700 will outclass others in the 4 wheeler sub 1-tonne cargo segment and will help it consolidate its position in the last mile transportation industry". The Piaggio Porter 700 will start reaching the dealership in India by next week and will be available across the company's 350+ dealerships in India by next month.
