Mercedes-Benz India recently launched the locally assembled S-Class luxury sedan in the county. The car was initially launched as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) model in June 2021, however, the company decided to advance local assembly seeing growing demand for the product. In fact, the company had allotted 150 units of the CBU version of the S-Class for India, and Mercedes-Benz has nearly sold out all of them in just three months. Which is a huge deal for a product like the S-Class. With local assembly, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is also now up to Rs. 60 lakh cheaper than the CBU model. 1. The biggest positive of getting the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class would be the price. With the start of local assembly, the diesel model is now priced at Rs. 1.57 crore, as opposed to the older Rs. 2.17 crore price tag. Whereas the petrol option is now priced at Rs. 1.62 crore, compared to the CBU model which was priced at Rs. 2.19 crore. (All prices ex-showroom India).

2. The S-Class continues to come with the powerful S 450 4Matic option that is powered by a 3.0-litre in-line 6-cylinder engine that comes with an integrated 48-Volt starter. The motor makes 362 bhp and 500 Nm torque, while you get an additional 21 bhp and 250 Nm torque for the electric motor.

3. The S-Class continues to get premium features like, the Digital Light LED headlights, the flush-fitting door handles, up to 5 OLED displays inside the cabin along with MBUX infotainment system, Mercedes ME connected car tech, and rear massage seats with 10 different settings, among other premium creature comforts.
4. With the new S-Class Mercedes-Benz India has also introduced for the first time 'Car to X Communication', an advanced telematics system. It is tailor-made for specific conditions.

The Made-In-India 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class gets gets an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS)
1. The powerful S 400d 3.0-litre diesel engine which made 326 bhp, has been replaced by a less powerful S 350d 3.0-litre motor that offers about 282 bhp. The latter offers 600 Nm of torque compares to the S 400d which developed 700 Nm of peak torque.
2. With the change diesel engine, the company has also removed the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system from the diesel version. You don't even get it as an option.

The S-Class now also doesn't get the rear-axle steering mechanism and the diesel option no longer gets the 4Matic system
3. To further bring the cost down, Mercedes has removed the rear-axle steering mechanism, which was one the biggest highlights of the seventh-gen S-Class.
4. Unlike the CBU model, which used to come with the AMG line package, the new locally-made come in the standard package. This means you only get 19-inch wheels instead of the sportier 20-inch alloys, and the sportier bumpers have also been replaced.
5. Inside the cabin, the flat-bottom AMG-spec steering has been replaced by a standard 3-spoke steering wheel.
