Porsche has taken the wraps off the 911 ‘Sally Special’, a one-off model based on the 2022 911 Carrera. As the name suggests, the car is designed to look like ‘Sally’, a character in the Disney-Pixar film series ‘Cars’ which debuted in 2006 and has seen 3 movies since. The character ‘Sally’ is based on a 2002 911 Carrera, and has since gone on to be an iconic model. The ‘Sally Special’ is a joint effort by Porsche & Pixar, and took 10 months to come to fruition.
Many unique elements make the ‘Sally Special’ a one-off. Things like the ‘Cars’ branded tyre valves, a ‘Kachow’ mode, and the iconic wheels from the original Sally add to the nostalgia.
Only one unit of the ‘Sally Special’ has been made, and there are many features that make the sports car unique. Things like the wheels, and the ‘Sally blue metallic’ paint shade take you on a trip down memory lane, but there are many trivial details in the car too, like a tribal decal on the back which is identical to the tattoo Sally has in the movie series. If the bits making the car look identical to the original weren't enough, Porsche & Pixar have also added several other details from the movie series that tell you that this is indeed the ‘Sally Special’. There's a special ‘Kachow’ mode named after Lightning McQueen's catchphrase, multiple ‘Sally Special’ & ‘Cars’ logos inside the Carrera, and even a beautiful blue key which says ‘Sally Special’ on it. Even the valve covers on the tyres have ‘Cars’ logos.

The ‘Sally Special’ also sports a tribal decal at the rear (bottom-right), identical to the tattoo Sally had in the movie series.
Talking about the ‘Sally’ character from Disney-Pixar film ‘Cars’, and the ‘Sally Special’ project, Dr. Sebastian Rudolph, Vice President Communications, Sustainability and Politics, Porsche AG said, “Vehicles need a face and a story. And the animated Pixar's film 'Cars' has impressively transferred done just that: brought cars to life on the big screen. The story conveys values such as friendship, love and mutual support - and in the middle of it all is a Porsche: 'Sally Carrera'. Together with Pixar we have brought the spirit of Sally to life in a new way, not on the screen, but off the screen.”
The interior also has ‘Sally blue metallic’ coloured highlights apart from several logos saying ‘Sally Special’ as well as logos of the movie series ‘Cars’.
The Sally Special borrows the 3.0-litre inline six twin-turbo engine from the fastest 911 Carrera - the Carrera GTS - which produces 467 bhp and 569 Nm of peak torque. To top it all off, the Sally Special features a manual transmission - yes! - and a 7-speed unit at that. The single unit of the special edition sports car is set to be auctioned off by RM Sotheby's on August 20, 2022, as a part of the Monterey Car Week in California. Auction proceeds will be donated to two charities. A portion of the proceeds will benefit young women through a donation to Girls Inc., and the second portion will go to USA for UNHCR, an organisation that supports refugees from Ukraine.
