Porsche recently launched the latest generation Panamera at Berlin. The German manufacturer says that the second generation Panamera is an all-new car with a new platform, fresh styling and it gets new engines as well. The most powerful one is the 4.0-litre Biturbo V8 petrol that belts out 542bhp and 770Nm. The 100kmph mark is breached in just 3.8 seconds (3.4 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package), from standstill.

And just to prove this, the new Panamera Turbo with the engine mentioned above, took on the Nurburgring and ended up breaking the record for luxury sedans. It clocked a phenomenal time of 7 minutes and 38 seconds, breaking the earlier record of Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio by a second. The Panamera Turbo was shod with regular road tyres while attempting to break the record. The Alfa Romeo Giulia was wearing racing tyres and was almost a 100kg lighter than the production car. This goes to show that Porsche Panamera is equally happy on a racetrack and normal roads as well.
The Panamera Turbo reached a maximum of 290Km/h. This goes on to prove that Porsche has done a stellar job with the new Panamera and to think of the fact that it beat some really accomplished sportscars such as the Lamborghini Murcielago SV, Ferrari 458 Italia, Porsche 911 GT3 etc.
What is more impressive is the fact that the 2nd gen Panamera was a massive 14 seconds quicker than the earlier model. The new Panamera will be coming to India in early 2017.
