Electric vehicle start-up Prevail Electric Mobility is ramping up its operations in India, as the brand prepares to begin deliveries of its electric scooters from September 2021. Speaking with carandbike in an exclusive interaction, Prevail Electric CEO Hemant Bhatt outlined the company's plans, both in India and in the neighbourhood, looking to ramp up sales in Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka as well. The company will also be exporting its EVs to Ukraine. In addition to operations in India, Prevail Electric is also setting up an assembly plant in Sri Lanka.

Currently, Prevail Electric has announced three electric scooters, which will be retailed across Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Kochi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. In its first phase of operations, Prevail Electric intends to establish 30 flagship stores across India by the end of the current financial year. Additionally, the company is also looking to establish what it calls "hotspots" which will double up as coffeeshops and also offer customers the chance to test ride an electric scooter as well as buy one.

"The flagship showroom model of Prevail Electric is completely new, adopted from the European market. The flagship stores will showcase all products of Prevail Electric, and there will be hotspots which will also offer customers a touch and feel experience of our EVs, along with the chance to test ride and buy the products," said Hemant Bhatt, CEO, Prevail Electric Mobility.

The company currently has its manufacturing facility in Neemrana, Rajasthan with annual production capacity of around 18,000 units. Once its second plant in Behrampur, near Gurugram, Haryana, becomes operational, annual production capacity will be ramped up to around 35,000 units. Along with ramping up production, the company is also looking to establish its retail presence across India, as well as set up charging infrastructure. In its first year of operations, Prevail Electric aims sales volumes of 1,000 units in Delhi and Mumbai alone, and 2,000 units in Nepal, and an additional 4,000 units in Sri Lanka. The company is also setting up an assembly plant in Sri Lanka.
In addition to electric scooters, Prevail Electric is also developing an electric sports bike, which will have maximum range of 350 km, and top speed of 180 kmph. By 2023, the company intends to enter the electric passenger car space, and is planning to set up a third manufacturing facility dedicated to electric cars. The company's first electric car will be an electric sedan with a range of over 300 km, and will be launched by 2023, Bhatt added.
