In terms of looks, Chevrolet has retained most of the styling and design attributes of the concept in the production version. The car comes with sharp, well-finished sweptback headlamps that really add a nice character to the new design. The new beefy bumper comes with large round fog lamps with chrome bezels and Chevy's signature dual grille design with a fat black slat on the larger hexagonal lower grille. There is heavy plastic cladding on the lower half of the bumper with a faux skid plate.
Chevrolet Beat Activ Side Profile
The side profile reveals the plastic underbody cladding with side skirts and large roof rails. The new Beat Activ also gets sporty alloy wheels, new ORVMs and sharp character lines below the shoulder line and above the rear wheel arches. Chevrolet has also raised the ground clearance of the car a little. The rear profile of the car is also all-new and comes with a roof-mounted glossy black spoiler, new wrap rounding tail lamp cluster with LED lights and a plastic cladded rear bumper with rear skid plate and reflectors.
Inside the cabin, the car gets new black/silver treatment with a new, well-laid-out dashboard, new steering wheel, and premium quality seats that give it an upmarket feel. On the feature front, the US-spec car offers air conditioning, power windows, remote keyless entry, rearview camera, and cruise control as standard features. In addition, it also benefits from an infotainment system with a seven-inch touchscreen with support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
Chevrolet Beat Activ Rear
Under the hood, the US-Spec version comes with a naturally aspirated 1.4-liter gasoline engine with 96bhp and develops 127Nm of torque delivered to the front wheels, without the option of an AWD setup. The India-bound model although, is expected to remain unchanged, powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine and 1.0-litre diesel motor, which are both good powertrains.
The new Chevrolet Beat Activ will come to India next year and will compete with the likes of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Mahindra KUV100. The company has already started testing the car in India and we hope to see it go on sale in the country around mid-2017. Expect a price tag in the range of Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 9 Lakh (ex-showroom).
