First showcased as a concept at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, Datsun has revealed the production version of the GO Cross concept in Indonesia. The new multi-seater is officially badged as the Datsun Cross and borrows a host of cues from the concept, while introducing new elements. The Cross is surprisingly loaded on features and gets a handful of premium equipment as well, while it continues to use the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine from the standard Datsun GO. Bookings for the Datsun Cross have opened in Indonesia, and the model commands a price tag of 163 million Indonesian Rupiah (around Rs. 7.27 lakh).

The 2018 Datsun Cross stays similar to the concept in a lot of ways carrying the same design and styling. The model gets a familiar front face with the massive grille with honeycomb mesh, but there are plenty of rugged elements as well including the blacked out bumper and faux skid plate, side skirts, and black cladding across the wheel arches and doors. The headlamp units comes with projector lens halogen lights with LED DRLS and you also get chunky looking fog lamps. The crossover also comes with silver finished roof rails and 15-inch alloy wheels. Adding a premium touch are the chrome inserts through the exterior including the grille and exhaust tips. The Cross stays true to its name with a ground clearance of 200 mm.
Inside, the new Datsun Cross gets premium touch and looks upmarket compared to the GO or GO+ models. The black coloured cabin looks sporty, but you get bits like a tachometer added to the instrument cluster. There's a 6.75-inch touchscreen infotainment system and comes with phone connectivity. The manual air-con unit continues as well. You also get power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs, rear parking sensors and more.

The Datsun Cross draws power from the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol as the standard GO models. The motor churns out 67 bhp at 5000 rpm and 104 Nm of peak torque at 4400 rpm. The motor comes paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. Datsun Indonesia is also offering a CVT automatic option on the Cross with power uprated to 77 bhp at 4000 rpm while torque remains the same. With respect to safety tech, the car comes with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, traction control and stability control.
The Datsun GO Cross concept was also showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, but the automaker recently said that it has no immediate plans of introducing the model in India. If it does however, it needs to be seen if the premium features will actually make it to the India-spec model.
