The new Skoda Kushaq is finally here and we have to say that Skoda has surprised us with all the bells and whistles this compact SUV packs in. It marks the beginning of the Czech carmaker's second innings in India where the impetus in on maximising sales of locally manufactured models. We have to say that despite 95 per cent of localisation level, Skoda hasn't compromised with the build quality or performance of the Kushaq; the cabin especially feels very European and upmarket. The Kushaq goes up against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos among others and its rivals too will spoil you for choices with the number of variants on offer. The Skoda Kushaq, however, is offered in just three variants - Active, Ambition and Style, and we think that it's the Ambition variant that gives you the best bang for your buck.

The cabin of the new Skoda Kushaq feels very upmarket and has an European flavour to it.
So, the Skoda Kushaq's Ambition is the mid-spec variant and it is positioned in between the base Active and range-topping Style variants. Now the Ambition trim remains our pick of the lot because it offers a very balanced and just the right amount of creature comforts. The base variant lacks on quite a few feel-good features like a bigger infotainment system as it gets the smaller 7.0-inch touchscreen unit as opposed to the 10-inch inch touchscreen in Ambition and Style variants. Then the base also misses out on leatherette seat covers, chrome detailing, silver scuff plates, climate control system and connectivity tech along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto among others. It also rides on 16-inch steel rims, and overall it feels a skimmed off variant. Then, on the top-of-the-line Style trim, almost every other feature save for ventilated seats, can be accessorised from aftermarket, like bigger alloy wheels, electric sunroof, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), trunk chrome garnish and even wireless charging among others.

The Ambition variant is very well balanced when it comes to creature comforts.
So by spending just a couple of lakhs more, you can get quite a well-loaded Ambition variant and can easily accessorise your Kushaq with all those features you wish to have from the top-end trim.
