(Audi Q2 Interior)For starters, the Audi Q2 looks very sporty with its typically Audi design language especially in bright colors like the yellows and reds that are offered. In fact, the design by itself looks far sportier than everything else from Audi's Q cars. The front bumper has a sporty silver accentuated intake and a large grille that is lined by even more silver accenting. The small LED headlamps make the car look purposeful while the C-pillar painted in a contrasting color goes well with the front and rear bumper accents. Audi also offers a variety of wheels on the car including a BBS inspired multi-spoke wheel that looks very purposeful.
undefinedThe Q2 will come with both petrol and diesel engines although we expect Audi to launch the petrol motors first. If Audi manages to bring the length under 4-meters, expect the 1.0-TFSI engine to make an appearance in the Q2. If not, the engine of choice will be the 1.4-litre petrol that also comes in the brand new Audi A4. The 1.0-litre engine makes 116bhp while the 1.4-litre TFSI makes 150bhp. Audi will offer both a DSG automatic and a 6-speed manual gearbox. Although most of the Q2 variants will be front wheel drive, there will be a top of the line variant will the quattro all-wheel-drive system.
(Audi Q2 Rear shot)The diesel engines could be the 1.6-litre (new engine) or 2.0-litre TDI engine. Again, if Audi could get the Q2 under the 4.0-metre length restriction, they could even plonk in a higher rated version of the 1.5-litre engine that underpins the Vento in India. Of course, this is wishful thinking and the possibility of this coming to production is very very slim. Putting things into perspective, the Audi Q2 will be 4190mm long, 1790mm wide and 1510mm tall with a wheelbase of 2600mm which will make it relatively spacious on the inside for such a small car. The boot space on offer is 405-litres.
On the insides, the Q2 will be styled similar to the Audi A3 with large circular vents taking up central positions in the cabin. The pop-up central display screen is also similar to the likes of the A3. You also get a flat-bottom steering wheel in almost all variants and sporty seats up front on the higher spec cars.
The Audi Q2 will be launched in India in 2017 with prices ranging from about Rs18-25 lakh. The new Q2 will go up against the likes of Jeep's upcoming C-SUV, the Hyundai Tucson and to a certain extent, the Mini Cooper Countryman. The new Audi Q2 will also be eventually available in a SQ2 variant which will pack over 300bhp of power from either a petrol or diesel tuned-up powerplant.
