The icon that defined a generation of superbikes to come, Suzuki Motorcycle India has announced the local assembly of the flagship Hayabusa super bike, which is now priced at a more affordable Rs. 13,57,135 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Hayabusa will now be brought into the country as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kit that has helped shave a good Rs. 2.5 lakh over the previous price of the motorcycle.
Suzuki will be assembling the Hayabusa at the Gurgaon, Haryana based facility that produces the other motorcycles for the company. Given the popularity that the Hayabusa has enjoyed over the years, it was about time the Japanese manufacturer made the transition and is certainly a welcome move.
The specifications on the India made Suzuki Hayabusa remain the same as the CBU counterpart that was imported from Japan until now. As a result, power continues to come from a 1340cc uprated to produces 197PS of power and 154Nm of torque. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. While it may no more be the fastest production motorcycle in history, it still has enough power and acceleration capabilities to take your breath away.

The assembly of the Hayabusa certainly spells good times for Suzuki India as the bike is strongly etched into the minds of the Indian motorcycling enthusiasts and the price drop does make the model slightly accessible. More so, since this is the biggest motorcycle (by engine cubic capacity) to be assembled in the country. We hope the bike maker extends a similar exercise on its premium offerings as well that includes the likes of V-Strom 1000, the GSX-1000 series; Intruder 1800 and the Bandit 1250 SA
