Suzuki Motorcycle recently revealed the much awaited GSX-R250 and the DL250 Concept (V-Strom 250) at the 14th China International Motorcycle Trade Exhibition. However, before you get your hopes high on either of models making it to India, Suzuki India has conveyed to carandbike.com that it has no plans of introducing either of the bikes in the country anytime soon.
Having tasted stupendous success with the Gixxer and Gixxer SF 155cc motorcycles, it was expected that Suzuki would make the gradual move to the hotly contested 250cc segment. The first spy shots of the GSX-R250 emerged in December last year and confirmed that the model was indeed in the making and would possibly arrive here soon.

However, the company says it has no plans of moving up the ladder anytime soon and instead will be concentrating on the mass market segments for now. Moreover, the company's attempt to shake the 250cc segment with the much capable but ill-received Inazuma, may have deterred its plans for the immediate future. Instead, Suzuki seems to be focusing on the premium superbike segments and its next superbike launch will be the 2017 GSX-R1000, which is set to arrive in India soon after the global launch next year.
The Suzuki GSX-R250 is a full faired bike and borrows its design cues from the GSX-R1000. Power comes from the 249cc twin-cylinder engine tuned to churn out 24.7hp at 8000rpm and 23.3Nm of torque at 6500rpm. The motor comes paired to a 6-speed transmission and the bike tips the scales at 178 kg.

The quarter-litre GSX comes shod with clip-on handlebars, tall windscreen, split seats, all-digital instrument console and makes do with telescopic front forks and a monoshock rear suspension setup. Braking performance comes from 290mm front single disc with two-piston caliper and a single 240mm disc at the rear. ABS will be offered as optional in markets overseas.

The Suzuki DL250 concept, is an adventure tourer, essentially the V-Strom 250 and boy, would have we loved to see it in India. The DL250 gets the same specifications as the GSX-R250, while the styling has been borrowed from the V-Strom 1000. The tourer has a seat height of 790 mm and a fuel tank capacity of 15-litres.

With a host of adventure tourers in the making, the Suzuki V-Strom 250 will be competing with a host of new and upcoming offerings internationally including the Royal Enfield Himalayan as well as the upcoming BMW G 310 GS, Kawasaki Versys 250, and KTM Duke 390 based adventure tourer. We expect Suzuki to showcase both new models at the upcoming EICMA Motorcycle Show next month in Italy.
