Tata Motors has launched a new brand Xpres in India which will specifically cater to the fleet vehicle buyers. Under the new brand, the company will sell the vehicles for the taxi segment and it will include both Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles and Electric Vehicles (EV). In fact, the first model to be introduced under the new vertical will be the re-branded Tigor EV which will now be called the 'XPRES-T' EV. The company says that all vehicles for the fleet segment will sport the new Xpres badge, to differentiate them from the company passenger vehicle sold to private buyers.
Announcing the launch of the Xpres brand, Shailesh Chandra, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said, "We are delighted to launch the Xpres brand which will introduce smarter, future-ready mobility solutions to cater for the special needs of all fleet customers - government, corporates, and mobility services. Electric Vehicles deliver a very low cost of ownership, with minimal maintenance, at the same time offer a very comfortable and pleasant drive. This makes them an ideal choice for intra-city mobility services.

With the new Xpres brand, Tata Motors will mainly target mobility services, corporate and government fleet customers. To support their requirement, Tata says that the upcoming Xpres-T EV will come with an optimal battery pack with fast charging solution, thus ensuring low cost of ownership in addition to safety and passenger comfort, making it a comprehensive and attractive proposition for fleet owners and operators. The electric subcompact sedan will be offered in two range options - 213 km and 165 km (ARAI certified range under test conditions). The former comes with a 21.5 kWh battery pack, while the latter gets a 16.5 kWh battery.
Tata claims that the new Xpres-T EV can be charged from 0- 80 per cent in 90 mins and 110 mins, respectively, using fast charging or can also be normally charged from any 15 A plug point. The car comes with a single-speed automatic transmission, dual airbags, ABS with EBD as standard across variants. The Xpres-T EV also comes with a premium black interior with standard automatic climate control. It also comes with Electric Blue accents across its interior and exterior to differentiate it from its ICE counterpart.

The launch of our forthcoming ‘XPRES-T' EV Sedan, will create a new benchmark for urban shared mobility and will include a comprehensive captive charging solution provided by our partner, Tata Power. This will enable higher utilisation and increased income for our fleet customers.”
