The Tata Nexon EV is one of the more popular electric offerings on sale right now and the model enjoys a substantial lead in terms of sales over its closest rivals. Tata also ensured to keep the model relevant to customers packing all the bells and whistles on offer. The new Nexon EV Dark Edition was introduced recently that further bolstered just how serious the company is about the model. And now, it seems the automaker is all set to upgrade the electric SUV to pack more power.

The leaked document reveals the power bump on the Tata Nexon EV
The leaked transport document dated August 17, 2021, reveals the power figure as 134 bhp, which is an upgrade of 7 bhp over the current version. Meanwhile, torque output remains the same at 245 Nm. Despite the bump in power output, the document shows the battery capacity at the same 30.2 kWh, which means the ARAI certified range of 312 km on a single charge and a charging time of one hour (DC charging) for up to 80 per cent will stay the same.
The document also revealed that the increased power output will be offered on all three variants - XM, XZ+ and XZ+ LUX. The e-SUV is likely to see an improvement in acceleration and possibly a higher top speed. At present, the top speed on the Nexon EV is capped at 120 kmph. It needs to be seen if the power bump will result in a price increment as well. The Tata Nexon EV range currently starts from Rs. 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), and depending on the state policy, you can avail of further subsidies. The model also gets other creature comforts including the iRA connected tech, semi-digital console, touchscreen infotainment system, climate control and more.

There's no word yet as to when Tata plans to introduce the updated Nexon EV in the market. Meanwhile, the automaker is gearing up to introduce the Tigor EV for private buyers on August 31, 2021. The updated version will get the Ziptron powertrain with the IP67 rated 26 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and an electric motor that belts out 74 bhp and 170 Nm of peak torque. Tata Motors will introduce the Tigor EV on August 31.
