Tata has unveiled the Tigor EV which is arguably the most important EV for the Indian market considering its rather affordable Rs 11.99 lakh price point. This is Tata's second EV after the Nexon EV which has become the flagbearer for the electric car movement in India. The Tigor EV also manages to offer a similar range of 306 km on offer. Tata has also announced a 'Universe', a sort of synergistic exercise between different business units of the Tata group that are coming together to bring EV infrastructure to India, be it Tata Power, Tata Motors, of course, Chroma stores - from financing, energy, automotive technology to retail, Tata is leveraging its assets to democratise EVs with its automotive arm doing the major heavy lifting by building these mainstream EVs that are within the range of the average Indian, not just globetrotters.
