Following the specs of the Porsche Taycan, the Tesla Model S Plaid edition has now run on the iconic German race track at the Nurburgring which is considered to be one of the most dangerous places to drive a car on the planet. Porsche brought its seminal Taycan to the Nurburgring GP track in 2019 to break a record for the fastest EV and hence it seems Elon Musk has decided to respond in kind with the new Model S Plaid which is easily the fastest mainstream road car in the world. The Model S Plaid has a 0-100 km/h figure of 1.9 seconds. Musk had the prototypes of the Model S Plaid run at the Nurburgring in 2019 but finally, the production car has made it to the track surprisingly with very few changes.

Tesla has added a track mode so that the vehicle can be used on racetracks like the Nurburgring which even hosted an F1 race in 2020. It allows users to track the status of the car motors, batteries, brakes and tyres and also enable customisation of the setup as per the driver's preferences. It even adds maps of famous tracks like the Nurburgring and you can track the progress of the car in real-time much like a video game.
The automaker has run into some issues during testing but one should expect it to announce a track time soon. It has previously aimed for a time of 7 minutes and 5 seconds but that time is meant for the ultra-challenging old school Nordschleife configuration of the track which has been dubbed by legendary F1 driver and 3-time world champion, Sir Jackie Stewart as the "Green Hell".
The track was also featured in the movie rush which showed the titanic world championship battle between former F1 world champions Nikki Laura and James Hunt. Lauda had a horrific crash in his Ferrari which left him scarred for the rest of his life and led to chronic lung issues which was eventually a factor in his death in 2019.
