Toyota is set to reveal it new Creta-rivalling compact SUV in India on July 1. However, before its debut, a new image has been shared on the social media platform Instagram revealing the SUV's front-end styling and its name. Toyota had previously trademarked the Hyryder name in India with speculation that it would be used for its upcoming compact SUV being co-developed with Suzuki. The leaked image shows the Hyryder name being worn in place of the front number plate suggesting that it will be the SUV's name when it launches in India.
Moving to the styling, the Hyryder follows the split headlamp design that has become common on many of today's SUV. The LED daytime running lamps sit flanking the grille up top with a thick chrome bar extending towards the central Toyota logo. The main headlamp unit sit lower on the front bumper flanking a prominent central air dam with a faux skid plate element at the base of the bumper. The image also suggests dual-tone paint finishes will be available while a closer look also reveals that the rear centre passenger will get an adjustable headrest as well.

While the rest of the SUV's look stays under wraps, previous spy images have revealed design details such as squared up wheel arches, a raked rear windscreen and a roof-mounted spoiler.

Jointly developed with Suzuki under its global partnership, Toyota's new compact SUV will sit on the Daihatsu new-gen architecture (DNGA) platform. While engine details are still to be confirmed the new SUV is expected to get a strong hybrid set-up in top variants to make up for a lack of petrol engine option. Lower variants are likely to use a mild-hybrid set-up which could see Toyota's SUV employ Maruti's 1.5-litre K-Series engine also used in the Ertiga and XL6.
The SUV is also expected to be loaded with tech in order to take on the likes of the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta. Expect the model to be loaded on tech with a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, a head-up display, electrically adjustable driver's seat, touchscreen infotainment system and more.
Aside from the new compact SUV, Toyota is expected to launch another two models in India. The company is expected to launch the new generation of the Urban Cruiser in the coming months followed by a new monocoque-based Innova Hycross MPV.
