Toyota Kirloskar Motors has announced that the cumulative sales of its entry-level models, the Glanza and the Urban Cruiser, have crossed the 1 lakh units mark in India. The Toyota Glanza premium hatchback was launched in India in June 2019, while the Urban Cruiser subcompact SUV was introduced in September 2020. Both the vehicles are re-badged versions of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Vitara Brezza, respectively, and were introduced as part of the Suzuki-Toyota global partnership. Toyota says that both the Glanza and the Urban Cruiser have received a phenomenal response from the customers, and while the former has accounted for more than 65,000 units, the company has sold over 35,000 units of the Urban Cruiser.

The Japanese carmaker says that both the models have in instrumental in bringing in many first-time Toyota car buyers to the showrooms. In fact, 66 per cent of first-time Toyota buyers have bought either the Glanza or the Urban cruiser, especially in the Tier II and Tier III markets. Toyota says these two models have also helped the company garner young-millennial customers.
Commenting on the success of Glanza and Urban Cruiser, Atul Sood, Associate Vice President, Sales, and Strategic Marketing, TKM, said, "The Glanza and the Urban Cruiser have witnessed phenomenal success over the years, with the Glanza registering more than 25 per cent growth when compared to its sales in 2020. Thanks to both these models that have helped us strike a defined balance to reach young aspiring customers, who desire to own a Toyota early in their lives." He also added, "Our focus on expanding footprints covering the tier II and tier III markets, has enhanced TKM product accessibility and service coverage to a wider and newer set of customer base."

Sood also said that Toyota's after-sales services, warranty schemes, and offers have helped it maintain the sales momentum of the Glanza and the Urban Cruiser. These also include value-added service programs such as Express Maintenance 60 (EM60), Q Service, Extended Warranty & Service Packages (SMILES). Right now, Toyota is also present across 418 dealer outlets in the country.
The Toyota Glanza is currently offered with a 1.2-litre petrol engine that comes mated to a 5-speed manual and an optional CVT automatic transmission, and it's priced between Rs. 7.49 lakh and Rs. 9.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Toyota Urban Cruiser, on the other hand, is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that comes mated to a 5-speed manual and an optional 4-speed automatic torque converter unit. The subcompact SUV is priced from Rs. 8.73 lakh to Rs. 11.41 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
