TVS Motor Company has announced the launch of a new single-channel ABS variant of the 2021 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. Priced at Rs. 1.28 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the motorcycle comes with multiple riding modes, which is a segment-first feature. Additionally, the single-channel ABS Apache 200 also comes with features like - adjustable suspension and adjustable levers. Compared to the existing dual-channel ABS model, the new single-channel ABS variant of the Apache RTR 200 4V is cheaper by a little over Rs. 5,000.
TVS first introduced the multiple riding modes feature for the Apache 200 series with the launch of the updated Apache RTR 200 4V, in November 2020. Like the existing model, the new single-channel ABS variant also comes with 3 riding modes - Urban, Rain, and Sport, which offer noticeable change is ride and performance. And we have spoken in lengths about it in our review. Also, the bike gets the same 270 mm petal disc upfront and a 240 mm petal disc at the rear.

In the Urban mode, the engine power delivery is tuned to deliver optimum power and control suited for city riding conditions, and the ABS unit is optimised for a quick response. On the other hand, in the Rain mode, the ABS is tuned to deliver the maximum response with a strong lever pulsation feel. This setting also triggers the ABS to kick in early, which helps to keep the vehicle in control while riding in wet road condition. As for the Sport mode, this is the top-most setting and it allows for maximum power and sharp acceleration suited for highway riding or those occasional track days. TVS says that the ABS is mapped for the least intervention and highest permissible slip percentage for faster lap times.

The levers for the front brake and the clutch get three-step adjustment each, with 1 being the lightest and 3 having the maximum bite
There's no change to the engine and the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V single-channel ABS variant gets the same 198 cc single-cylinder four-valve, oil-cooled engine that develops 20.54 bhp at 8500 rpm and 18.1 Nm of peak torque at 7000 rpm. The motor is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. Having said that, power output varies as per the riding mode. The engine offers the maximum output of 20.54 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 17.25 Nm of peak torque at 7,250 rpm while in the sport mode and the claimed top speed is 127 kmph. In the rain and urban mode, the power and torque drop down to 17 bhp at 7800 rpm and 16.51 Nm at 5750 rpm. The top speed too drops down to 105 kmph.
The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V motorcycle with Single-Channel ABS will be on sale effective immediately, and customers can get the motorcycle in three different colours - Gloss Black, Pearl White, and the recently launched Matte Blue, inspired by the TVS OMC race bike.
