In an attempt to create more opportunities for women racers in India, TVS Racing has announced its decision to collaborate with Alisha Abdullah Racing Academy for Women. It is India's first training school for women racers and the academy has currently shortlisted 18 women racers who will exclusively represent TVS Racing Team for a year. As a part of its collaboration TVS Racing will support the academy with its technical expertise in racing and provide motorcycles as well. This is not the first time TVS has supported female racers. A couple of months back, TVS Racing Appoints Shreya Iyer as Team's First Woman Racer .
Based out of Chennai, the Alisha Abdullah Racing Academy for Women is led by founder Alisha Abdullah, who has had a successful career in both two and four wheels. She was recently appointed as the Indian representative for women in motorcycling by the FIM. After starting her own racing academy, Abdullah has been scouting various Indian colleges for skilled and enthusiastic female racers. In fact these 18 women racers were shortlisted from 80 entries after clearing rigorous tests.
Sharing her views about this new collaboration Alisha Abdullah said, "We are proud to be associated with TVS Racing as it is India's most professional two-wheeler racing team with the best motorbikes and trainers. This association will help the academy develop the best talent among women racers as they get exclusive access to best in class machines, racers and technology. I also hope our racing academy attracts and encourages more women racers to get into motorsports in India."
Currently all the 18 female racers are undergoing advanced training to improve their physical fitness and hone their racing skills. As the academy is based in Chennai the racers will be trained on a hired racing track according to their training requirements, equipment for which will be provided by TVS Racing.
