TVS’s latest launch is an electric scooter called the TVS X, based on the Creon concept that was showcased back in 2018 at the Auto Expo. Now the flagship scooter in the two-wheeler brand’s portfolio, the TVS X is available at an introductory price of Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom), excluding the extra Rs 16,275 customers will have to pay for a portable 950-watt charger. This makes it the most expensive electric scooter on sale in the Indian market.

The TVS X is the most expensive electric scooter on sale in India
While the scooter currently does not have any direct rivals in the Indian market, the closest ones include the Ather 450 X 3.7 kWh, Ola S1 Pro, Simple One and Vida V1 Pro. Let’s see how TVS’s latest electric scooter compares to the rest of the list on paper.

The TVS X has the lowest wheelbase (1285 mm) out of the bunch, being 74 mm shorter than the Ola S1 Pro, the longest vehicle on this list. However, in terms of ground clearance, it takes the crown, measuring 175 mm, 5 mm more than the next one on the list, the Ather 450 X. The TVS X is tied with the Simple One for being the heaviest scooter here, weighing 134 kg. The lightest scooter here is the Ather 450 X, which will make it the more flickable two-wheeler here. The TVS X yet again loses in terms of storage capacity, with a meagre 19 litres of space, whereas the other scooters on the list like the Ola S1 Pro go as high as having 34 litres of space.

In terms of powertrain, the TVS X gets a permanent magnet mid-drive motor that produces a continuous output of 7 kW and a peak output of 11 kW, with peak torque rated at 40 Nm, helping it go from 0- 40 kmph in 2.6 seconds, with a top speed of 105 kmph.

The Ather 450 X has an acceleration time of 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 90 kmph
The Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 on the other hand, features a Mid Drive IPM motor that makes a nominal output of 5 kW and a peak output of 11 kW and a peak torque of 58 Nm and has the same 0 to 40 kmph time as the TVS X, 2.6 seconds. The closest match to the TVS X after the Ola is the Simple One, with its motor making 8.5 kW of peak power and 72 Nm of peak torque, the highest torque figures in this comparison. The Simple One has a 0 to 40 kmph time of 2.77 seconds and a top speed of 105 kmph. The Ather 450 X on the other hand, is powered by a PMSM motor, churning out a peak power output of 6.4 kW and 26 Nm of peak torque, while the Vida V1’s motor makes 6 kW of peak power and 25 Nm, a smidge lower than the Ather. The Vida V1 Pro has a 0 to 40 kmph time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 80 kmph, while the Ather has an acceleration time of 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 90 kmph.

Coming to the battery setup, the TVS X features a 4.44 kWh (installed; 3.8 kWh useable capacity) battery pack with nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) cells, that produces a range of up to 140 kilometres. The scooter is available with a portable 950 w charger delivering 0 – 80 per cent in 4 hours 30 minutes.

The Vida V1 has the lowest range figures of the bunch, delivering 110 km from a 3.94 kWh battery
The Ather 450 X gets a smaller 3.7 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack, although range figures are a smidge higher than the TVS X at 150 km. The Simple One has the largest battery capacity of the bunch which stands at 5 kWh and gives the two-wheeler a claimed range of 212 km, higher than all the other two-wheelers on the list. The Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 on the other hand, gets a 4 kWh hour battery that can deliver 195 km of range. The Vida V1 is right at the bottom, delivering 110 km from a 3.94 kWh battery.
