We already told you that Skoda Auto India is gearing up to launch a new sedan towards the end of this year. The new Skoda sedan, which will be based on the company's new MQB-A0 IN platform, will be positioned above the existing Rapid. And now, new spy photos of the car have surfaced online giving us a closer look at the new model. While the company has not revealed any major details about the upcoming sedan, we suspect it will be called Skoda Slavia. The name was registered by the Czech carmaker in India last year in December 2020.

Visually, there is very little to talk about here as the car is still heavily camouflaged. However, the exposed sections reveal some of the signature Skoda design elements like, the embossed butterfly grille, which is similar to the one on the Octavia. The car also seems to come with a pair of sleek headlamps flanking the grille, a muscular bumper and a sculpted bonnet with sharp lines. Additionally, the test mule is seen with a set of 5-spoke alloy wheels similar to the ones offered with the Rapid. As for the rear it's heavily camouflaged and seems to be covered in pseudo cladding revealing very little. Now even we spotted a test mule of the car some time ago, however, it wasn't the clearest photo.

The latest spy photos also give us a glimpse of the cabin of the upcoming Skoda Slavia, which appears to get dual-tone black and beige interior and the two-piece multifunctional steering we have seen in the Kushaq and the Octavia. The dashboard also features a large touchscreen unit, which on a closer look, seems to be displaying a digital image of the car. This means it will come equipped with a vehicle information system as well.

As for engine options, we expect the new Skoda sedan to borrow its powertrains from the Kushaq, featuring the 1.0-litre TSI 3-cylinder engine and the 1.5-litre TSI four-cylinder motor. In the Kushaq, the former is tuned to make 113 bhp and 175 Nm of peak torque, while the larger TSI motor offers 148 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. Both come with a 6-speed manual gearbox, along with an optional 6-speed torque converter and 7-seed DSG automatic, respectively. We expect the new Skoda sedan to be launched in the same price bracket as the Kushaq, which is between Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 17 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
