One of the biggest highlights of the Volkswagen Ameo is the fact that it is the first German car that has been designed in India, specifically for the Indian market. The car comes with the highest percentage of localization compared to other Volkswagen cars sold in India. The car was designed and developed in the county and will be manufactured at the company's Chakan facility itself.

2) Volkswagen first sub-4 meter vehicle in India
Another key aspect that makes the Ameo compact sedan special for Volkswagen India is that it is the company's first sub-4 metre vehicle in this market. Volkswagen is probably one of the last few automakers who are yet to enter this highly competitive territory and according to the company the Ameo has all the firepower it needs to go head to head with its popular competitors - Maruti Swift Dzire, Ford Figo Aspire, Tata Zest and others.
3) Naming and Design Strategy
Now one cannot deny that the Volkswagen Ameo has one of the most intriguing names in the segment and there is a reason for it. Apparently the word Ameo has been derived from a Latin word 'Amo' which means 'I Love'. This is to signify Volkswagen India's purpose in building what truly is a special offering crafted specifically for the Indian car market. On the other hand, like its peers, the Ameo too shares its design and stylising cues with a hatchback in the carmaker's stable, which in this case is Volkswagen's most popular car in India, the Polo. The front fascia and the side profile are noticeably similar to the Polo, while the new rear section borrows a bit of styling from the new Volkswagen Vento.

Another thing that Volkswagen claims will create a niche for the Ameo in the sub-compact segment is the car's best-in-class safety features, build quality and a great driving experience. While detailed offerings are yet to be revealed, but if anything that Volkswagen claims is truly be an exceptional product. This is considering the fact the Ford's Figo Apsire already offers the best-in-class safety features with ABS, EBD and segment-first 6-Airbags.
5) Shares Engine Specifications with Volkswagen Polo
Now when we come to the engine options, like its design, the new Volkswagen Ameo is likely to borrow the powertrains from its hatchback cousin the Polo. This means that the Volkswagen Ameo will be sporting the same 1.2-litre MPI petrol and the 1.5-litre TDI diesel, which is not a bad deal considering how good the engines. Moreover Volkswagen is also expected to throwing in its much popular 7-speed DGS gearbox, which will only make it a sweeter deal.
