Volkswagen promised to make a product for the Indian market, which was highly localized and with zero compromise on quality. The Taigun was that product and it was meant to push VW into a very competitive segment in the country, one which has been receiving the most attention – the compact SUV. With the booking numbers rising every day, the Taigun became the talk of the town and both the 1-litre and the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engines, took centre stage to deliver on the three key pillars that the company basis its products on – Safety, Driving Dynamics and Quality!
The company has been able to sell close to 3000 units a month ever since the launch of the car and the demand is only increasing. While the 1.5-litre engine, pulls at the heart strings of the enthusiast, the 1-litre motor is the pick for those wanting frugality in day-to-day city driving conditions. Then there are the manual and automatic transmissions on offer as well, which provide the consumers options to choose from.
Volkswagen looked closely at this segment, and knew very well, that given the competition, it need to outclass the rest of the competitors, and the only way to do that was to stick to the basics and ensure that the car it produces, lives up to the expectations of its consumers, who have already had experience with cars like the Polo, Vento and SUVs like the Touraeg and even the Tiguan. The Taigun, then had to be an absolute cracker and it certainly delivered on that promise.
It's been a year since the Taigun SUV was launched in India and since then, it’s entered the lives of thousands of users, some who have upgraded to buying the SUV from a Polo or Vento and others who are new to the brand. On either front, we hear no complaint, because the Taigun shines out in every department. With order books full, Volkswagen is already gearing up for a plan to push production, so that those waiting for their car, can receive it on time!
