The new Volkswagen Tiguan facelift has gone on sale in India and it is being locally assembled in our market. Unlike before, it will be sold in our market just with a single petrol engine option following the brand's petrol-only strategy. The SUV made its global debut in 2020 when it received subtle styling updates while the cabin upholstery was revised as well. The new Volkswagen Tiguan facelift will rival the likes of the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, and Citroen C5 AirCross. Here's is how different the new Volkswagen Tiguan facelift is from its predecessor.

Now the new Volkswagen Tiguan facelift isn't very different to look at than its predecessor and changes are limited to subtle cosmetic updates. At the front, it sports a slightly tweaked radiator grille with LED Matrix headlights and LED DRLs going well with its sleek front end. Moreover, the front bumper has been revamped giving it a more angular look and houses a triangular shaped fog lamp. Changes at the rear are limited to just slimmer taillights.

The Volkswagen Tiguan gets Vienna leather upholstery.
The cabin of the new Volkswagen Tiguan is almost identical to its predecessor's and the major update you'll see is in the upholstery. The German brand has used more soft touch materials on the top surfaces which you'll frequently touch, and the seats are now draped in Vienna leather.
The previous Volkswagen Tiguan had an all-black cabin.
The cabin of the pre-facelift model had a similar layout but was finished in all-black colour tone with subtle brushed chrome inlays.
Now in terms of features there have been few additions as well. The cabin is now equipped with 30 shades ambient lighting, illuminated scuff plates, expansive panoramic sunroof, illuminated gear knob, touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, flat-bottom steering wheel with multi-functions, driver-side electric seat with memory function, three-zone climate control, and much more. As for safety, the SUV is loaded with six-airbags, a driver alert system, ABS, tyre pressure monitoring system, ESP, ASR, EDL, auto hold, hill start assist and hill descent control among others.

Now the biggest update on the Tiguan is in the options it gets under its hood. The new Volkswagen Tiguan is a petrol-only model with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, TSI turbo petrol motor under its hood that belts out 187 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission sending power to all the four wheels in equal ration through the 4Motion all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.
The previous Volkswagen Tiguan was offered both in petrol and diesel iteration with the 2.0-litre TDI engine also on offer alongside the 2.0-litre TSI petrol mill.
