Volkswagen Vento Now Gets The Updated 1.5-Litre Diesel Engine
After having launched the Ameo diesel just last month and back then we told you all about how this sub-compact car drives. We also mentioned that the folks at VW had managed to up the power in the 1.5-litre diesel engine. Clearly the next thing on the companys agenda was making this change in the Vento and now it has.
Volkswagen has updated power in the Vento and now it stands at 108bhp (as in the Ameo). We’ve seen this same engine make its way into the new Skoda Rapid which was launched recently. Now, Volkswagen has not just updated the engine but also added a new colour shade - Silk Blue. Yes, this is the same colour as the one we saw on the Ameo.
The update is made to the same 1.5-litre TDI engine block, but what it now gets is a larger turbocharger, thanks to which there is a stark bump in power. Now, we’ve driven the facelift version of the car and already told you the number of changes that the car has undergone. The bump in power is just 4bhp and the 250Nm torque remains unchanged. The Vento diesel continues to be offered with two transmissions – the 5-speed manual and the 7-speed DSG. There are no other changes to the car and Volkswagen has not changed the price either.
The Vento diesel with the manual transmission starts at Rs. 9.20 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), while the one with the automatic transmission starts at Rs. 11.12 lakh (ex-Delhi). The Vento diesel manual variant returns a fuel economy of 22.27 km/l, while the automatic variant too is capable of giving 22.15 km/l.
