Volvo has commenced accepting bookings for the new XC40 Recharge in India a day after launching the electric SUV. Priced at Rs, 55.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the XC40 Recharge is available solely via Volvo’s digital sales channels with the company saying that deliveries will commence from October 2022. The booking amount is set at Rs 50,000 with buyers offered the option to outright buy the vehicle. In fact, the company put out a statement saying that it had received 150 bookings for the car already and that too just 2 hours after the bookings opened online.
Volvo first showcased the XC40 Recharge in India last year with plans to introduce it in 2021 itself though the company delayed the launch to 2022 citing supply chain constraints. The XC40 Recharge now available is slightly different to the car previously showcased with the model having received a facelift globally in the intervening period. The update models gets tweaks to the bumpers along with new design LED headlamps though much of the interior and exterior design has remained unchanged.

The XC40 Recharge is available in a single fully-loaded P8 variant and is available with an all-wheel drive as standard. The electric SUV features a dual-motor set-up with an electric motor on each axle developing a combined 402 bhp and 660 Nm of torque. The units are paired with a 78-kWh battery pack that gives the SUV a claimed range of up to 418 km. Volvo claims a 0-100 kmph time of 4.9 seconds a top speed of 180 kmph (limited). Volvo says its SUV will come with a 11kW wall box charger as standard with the SUV capable of being fast charged at up to 150kW.

On the equipment front the electric SUV packs in a 9.0-inch touchscreen running Android-based software replete with Google Assistant, Google Play and Google Maps built in. Volvo includes a 4 year subscription to digital services in the SUV’s price.
It also packs in a digital instrument cluster, dual zone climate control, air purifier, 360-degree camera, 600W Harman Kardon sounds system and more. Safety kit onboard includes adaptive driver aids including adaptive cruise control, front and rear collision mitigation, pilot assist and lane keep assist.

Volvo says its SUV will come with a 3 year warranty, 3 years road side assistance and with an 8 year battery warranty.
