About Okinawa Ridge Plus

Having introduced the Ridge electric scooter in 2017, Okinawa Autotech has now introduced the Ridge Plus electric scooter in the country priced at Rs. 64,998 (ex-showroom). The Okinawa Ridge Plus sets it apart from the standard version with its new lithium-ion battery that replaces the standard lead-acid version. The new battery not only is lighter than the standard version but also offers longer range and is detachable too, allowing owners to carry the battery to the charging point and not the other way round. Bookings for the new lithium-ion electric scooter are open at Okinawa's 200-odd dealerships across the country.

Okinawa Ridge Plus Design

The Okinawa Ridge Plus remains identical to the standard version in terms of design. The front apron holds the bold-looking headlamp the indicators are part of the cowl on top. The scooter gets a dual-tone paint scheme and the overall styling remains conventional yet modern. The Okinawa Ridge Plus is available in two colour options - Lucent Orange/ Magna Grey and Mid Night Blue, while finishing the look are the alloy wheels that are specific to this version.

Okinawa Ridge Plus Dimensions

The new Okinawa Ridge Plus electric scooter measures 1725 mm in length, 695 mm in width and 1080 mm in height. The seat height measures at 774 mm that makes it accessible to riders of all sizes. The scooter gets 17 litres of under seat storage space, which can take of basic knick-knacks but does not accommodate a full-size helmet. The ground clearance stands at 160 mm on the electric scooter.

The Okinawa Ridge Plus electric scooter is loaded on features, with several new features over the standard version. This includes the all-digital instrument console, Anti-theft alarm, keyless entry, and central locking. The scooter also comes with a Find My Scooter function that allows you to remotely locate the scooter.

The new Okinawa Ridge Plus uses an 800 watt, BLDC water-proof motor with peak power of 1200 watt and extends the scooter's range to a claimed 120 km in a single charge.

Okinawa Ridge Plus Mileage

The Okinawa Ridge Plus with the 60V/26 Ah lithium-ion battery offers a range of 120 km in a single charge. The scooter has a top speed of 55 kmph and a loading capacity of 150 kg. Okinawa says the lithium-ion battery can be fully charged in two hours, as opposed to eight hours on the lead-acid version. Okinawa says the detachable battery allows the user to take out the battery and carry to their home or office for charging purpose. Equipped with a Micro-charger featuring auto-cut that get the scooter up and running in 2 hours flat.

Okinawa Ridge Plus Suspension and Brakes

The Okinawa Ridge Plus uses telescopic forks up front and dual shocks with dual tube technology at the rear. Both units are the hydraulic type and do a decent job in soaking in the undulations. Braking power comes from drum brakes at either end that also comes with regenerative energy.

Keeping up with the times, the Okinawa Ridge Plus is equipped with e-ABS (Electronic-Assisted Braking System) in a bid to make a more controlled stop.

Very expensive for a modest bike

I purchased Ridge+ from Okinawa's Chennai dealer. Though they promise a lofty 120 kms per charge, in reality it only gives 80 kms per charge. I was unfortunate enough to receive a faulty bike which gave only 46 kms per charge, the speedometer did not work properly among other issues. It's been very difficult for me to contact their customer care because they never answer. Their emails don't work. Their dealer doesn't know how to fix the bike either. I am not sure how good their scooter is, but i can tell you, they only care about sales. Don't fall for their advertisements.
