When BMW says that they are working on revising the Z4, you tend to take them very seriously and your expectations soar to new heights. It's true that this car has been loved by a lot of people and a facelift meant that something new was in the offing.
If you stare at the facelift Z4 for a moment, a lot of questions crop up in your mind but the one that pops topmost is what exactly is new.
BMW has made subtle changes to the new car and those changes are mild, yet mentionable. The new Z4 gets restyled bumpers, new chrome gills within the front flanks, a new alloy wheel design, and a new grille and headlamp design, all new, yes but very subtle.
You might expect some mechanical changes, but there are none. The new Z4 gets the same 3.0-litre, twin-turbo direct-injection motor which makes 302bhp.
It drives like a BMW should, it's quick on its heels and you'll love the grip that is on offer if you bend into the curves. The 7-speed twin-clutch gearbox provides seamless power and your foot will be pinned to the throttle as this little rabbit goes past the 150km/h mark.
With the top down, the Z4 is all play and willing to go that extra mile to make you want to push it. With the top up though, there is a need for more head space, still you can't really complain.
The cabin of the Z4 is unchanged too and it now comes in the Design Pure Traction variant which features different interior trim options and an orange body colour exclusive to this variant.
It's been 4 years that the Z4 is in India and the customers still believe that the car is good looking and fun to drive. BMW has priced it at Rs 69.9 lakhs which is at par with most of its competitors. However, BMW has to think of a serious facelift of the Z4 perhaps a new beginning will mean a bigger and brighter future.
