General Motors unveiled its plan to enter the MPV segment at the 2012 Auto Expo and it was then we knew that the car would be called Enjoy. This is the first time that Chevrolet was taking a shot at the compact MPV segment. The biggest rival for the Enjoy here is the Maruti Ertiga but does it do better than the Ertiga?
The Enjoy gets a monocoque structure and that is the car's biggest advantage especially since it's an MPV. This automatically means you have more space for the passengers. The Enjoy does have a plenty of room and getting in and out of the car is very simple.
There is plenty of headroom and legroom for the passengers and a nice seating posture as well. Inside sits a two-tone dash which may look a bit drab but it is clean and neat and the fit and finish too is okay. The car doesn't get things like Bluetooth, climate control and the music system is a mere single-DIN unit.
What drives the Enjoy is a 1.3-litre diesel unit which churns out 76bhp. Chevrolet has also provided the customers with the 1.4-litre petrol unit but we are sure that the diesel one is going to head the sales mark for the Enjoy.
It isn't the quickest off the mark but then again it is a people mover and you really want to sit back and enjoy the ride. This is accomplished by the Enjoy and since the suspension setup is on the softer side, the Enjoy can cushion the passengers from the bumps on the road. The steering feel is light and it is a good car in city conditions.
The Enjoy is priced competitively with the Ertiga and the top-end diesel gets a 8.31 lakh price tag. It is a good family car and Chevrolet couldn't have chosen a better time to introduce it in India.
