The sub-4 meter segment got its attention only because Tata Motors thought about the idea. A compact saloon proved to be a great idea when Tata Motors launched the Indigo eCS. Over the years though, it has had to face stiff competition from the likes of Maruti, Honda, and Mahindra and Mahindra.
So Tata Motors have come out with a new game plan and has introduced a refreshed version of the Indigo eCS. There are a lot of styling changes that are made to the exterior and there is a new front grille with a lot of chrome to give it that upmarket look.
The headlamps get blackened insets that give a smoked effect, the bumper gets minor tweaks and the fog lamp inserts are reshaped with chrome surrounds on higher variants. Even the alloy wheels which are 14-inch, have been redesigned so you know that there is a lot of work done.
The changes are not restricted to the exterior though. Inside, an all-new octagon- shaped instrument panel and a dual-tone treatment to the cabin awaits your attention. The 'T-shaped' steering wheel has now been replaced by a four-spoke design. Even features like rear-parking sensors, a cooled glovebox, bottle holders on the front doors and a better music system with Bluetooth connectivity find their way into the car and the top-end model is extremely well packed.
The clutch of the diesel car too feels better than the earlier generation, it has gotten lighter. The car is powered by a 1396cc common rail DOHC engine which churns out 69bhp. It doesn't take a lot of time to figure out that Tata Motors wants this to be the most fuel-efficient car.
The car will be launched in a phased manner and with prices beginning from Rs 4.99 lakhs, Tata knows that they will be able to generate enough buzz to make it sell.
