TVS Raider Expert Review

TVS Raider

Being one of the most popular 125cc models in India, TVS Raider is known for its high-octane performance and exciting features. The bike comes in two different variants: Drum and Disc. The ex-showroom price of the Drum variant is INR84,573 and INR90,989. It is available in 4 different colours: Blue, Red, Black and Yellow.

How is the design?

TVS Raider is more than what is expected from a 125cc commuter motorcycle. TVS Raider has prioritized performance and it comes with 11.2NM peak torque and 11.4 horsepower and the way it delivers power, adds to the satisfaction and comfort of the riders. TVS Raider’s 0.65 KMPH and 0.85 KMPH timing are believed to be the quickest in the 125cc segment. The refinement level of the bike is quite impressive as well, with a negligible hint of vibrations that can be felt through the seats. TVS Raider is tractable and it has the capacity of going as low as 35 KMPH even when in 5th gear.

How is the performance?

The TVS Raider is powered by a 124.8cc single-cylinder, three-valve engine which is ideal for developing 11.2 Nm of torque and 11 hp of power and it also comes with a 5-speed gearbox. The engine of TVS Raider has been built from ground-up and therefore, it cannot be considered as a derivative of previously discontinued or existing TVS 125cc products. The intelliGo tech is also featured in this model and this is a silent engine start system. The electric starter sound would not be heard while starting the bike. To enhance the performance, the Eco mode is added which is basically used to turn off the engine of the bike automatically following a few seconds of idling. A multi-coloured LCD is also included in the model which shows a range of information. The fuel economy of TVS Raider is on par with its rivals as well

How does the TVS Raider ride?

The ride quality of TVS Raider is appreciative as it is supple and soft, ironing out most undulations. The bike is designed in a manner so that even the large potholes in bad roads are easily absorbed by the light-weight bike. While riding, the bike feels agile and light and its instantaneous flickability is believed to be what draws the interest of the riders. Now coming to the brake performance of the bike, it has been found that the equal use of the rear and the front brakes enhance the braking experience of the riders.

How comfortable is the TVS Raider?

The TVS Raider does not feature a single-piece flat seat and rather comes with a stylish and supportive split seat. Both the pillion and the rider seat in this model are well padded and cushioned, adding to the comfort of the riders. A neat cubby is also added under the pillion seat for storage and the riders find this feature useful, as they do not have to carry anything on their back and ride comfortably. TVS Raider also offers a fairly upright riding position, however, the foot pegs on the bike are slightly rear-set, offering a sporty look along with a comfortable riding position. The split seat is designed in a manner so that there is a wide surface area on the bike, offering comfort to both the pillion and the rider. The wide handlebar comes with a great grip and therefore, a good leverage in handling.

How's the tech?

There are two riding modes in TVS Raider: Power and Eco. The power mode in the bike is able to deliver 10% more power at the top end. The other important tech feature in the bike includes an instrument console which is basically a negative LCD screen and it displays a long read-out list including “distance to empty indicator”, “three trip meter”, “integrated starter generator indicator”, as well as “average speed recorder”. In its safety feature, a “side-stand cut-off switch” has also been added. TVS SmartXonnect system is the Bluetooth connectivity in the TVS Raider top-spec variants and it is supported by a TFT screen. Some of the other tech features of TVS Raider include “engine kill switch”, “fuel gauge”, “low oil indicator”, “pass light” and “low battery indicator”.

How's the mileage of the TVS Raider?

The TVS Raider bikes come with a mileage of 67 KM/L, with a fuel tank capacity of 10L.

Is the TVS Raider good value for money?

TVS Raider is one of the most efficient bikes in the 125-cc segment in India and therefore, it is worth buying, primarily due to the fact that the bike is packed with features and comes with a premium and sporty look at an affordable starting price of just 84,573.

How is the after sales service?

As estimated, the maintenance cost of TVS Raider is around INR 2,394 for 2 years. The second service is offered after 2500 KM, and the third service is offered after 5000 km, the fourth is offered after 8500 KM and the fifth service is offered after 11,500 Km. The first five services of TVS Raider are free of cost.

Which motorbikes compete in this segment?

The other motorbikes competing in the 125 cc segments are Hero Glamour Xtec, Bajaj Pulsar 125, Honda SP 125, KTM Duke 125, Honda CB Shine and so on.

Verdict (Value for money)

TVS Raider is a value for money bike ranging between INR84,573 and INR90,989. Not only does it come with premium looks, but it has advanced tech features adding to the convenience and comfort of the rider. It is a smart choice for city commuters. It is one of the bestselling 125cc bikes in India and the segment rivaling fuel efficiency as well as the peppy performance and impressive dynamics are combined to make the TVS Raider a more engaging, youthful, fun to ride bike than most of its existing rivals.

Final Verdict on Raider

Possibly one of the best 125 cc motorcycle available in the market right now, the TVS Raider is also a recipient of Motorcycle of the year award at the 2022 carandbike awards. Its high octane performance for its size, and the number of features it gets, makes it a very strong contendor in the segment. At the same time, the quality of plastics and a bouncy rear suspension could've been dealt with better.

Raider looks stunning in 125 cc segments of bikes in India
@
5.0 star-fullstar-fullstar-fullstar-fullstar-full
Raider looks more stunning and in 125 cc segments of Bike.Has little inside space below its second seat. rear tire of bike also in comparison to Hero and Honda bike is wide. Only Yamaha can become its competitor if it introduces its 125 CC segments FZ bikes. But since TVS is an Indian company and has thoroughly did its market study in comparison to its competitors, Honda, Hero, Yamaha and Bajaj can more understand the Indian masses and their expectations. TVS Raider uses the 124.8 cc single-cylinder, 3-valve engine that churns out 11.2 bhp at 7500 rpm and 11.2 Nm of peak torque at 6000 rpm. The motor is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The bike also comes with two riding modes - Eco and Power - with the latter offering about 10 per cent more power at the top-end of the power band. The bike gets telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear, while braking performance comes from a disc and drum brake set-up. Since its a new kind of Bike in 125 CC segments that comes only in electric start mode but not kick start mode. If after 2 /3 years of its performance no problem exists while running this bike than it can become a fame in India. TVS can give challenge to Japanese bikes, Honda if it also concentrate on its engine efficiency to earn public trust. The best part of TVS is that it keeps on working on regular updation of its bikes. As we know when Bajaj came with its 150 cc segment Pulsar bikes these seems strong and effective bikes. Once TVS came as its competitor with 150 CC segment Apachi bike, at the initial stage it was not so popular in comparison to Pulsar. However on keep on doing research and making changes and styles of Apachi bikes now this bike is giving competition to other 150 CC and 160 CC bikes and rated as no.1 public choice bikes in India. Its times Bikes industry must give their focus on beautification, strong, economical costing, good mileage bikes of 125 cc segments bikes in India as 125 cc bikes are the future of Indian bike industry and choice and preference of public of India.
