Seeing the review of the car and brand image of Honda, I bought new Honda Amaze 2018 on 20th June and since then it has been very painful and frustrating experience. I immediately noticed following major issues while driving the new Amaze for 1 week. The car has pick up and acceleration issue and loses all power when I take my car to main road from subways and also when I try to accelerate on overtakes at 2 or 3 gear. It loses its power to an extent that sometimes it stops. The car vibrates a lot while reversing. There is noise coming probably from front shockers when car goes into a little deep jerking or on speed breakers. Also the Honda signature lights can't use as DRL. Only I can use it as parking light only. What the point of calling it as signature light. Each moment of driving the new Amaze is now filled with disappointment and frustration, and I have started regretting my decision to buy Amaze

We bought a new Honda amaze VX petrol (engine no. L12B44010400) on 10th July 2018 from pink city motors Jaipur, Rajasthan, during the 1st week only realize that car having a big manufacturing defact which causeing heavy vibration during back gear and even some time during car pickup. When complained to service center (pink city motors pvt.ltd) they suggested, it will be checked rectify during 1st service, we sent car for service (meter reading was just 200 km run only), they kept it for 3 days, and the out come was nothing, as per them they tested and did some gear box rectification but outcome was nothing. At the last they said this much vibration comes in all new amaze car. I am very disappointed with such kind of crap peace of car, not expected from HONDA brand. I want it to be raised this issue on high level and want solution. So requesting to please look into this issue very seriously

First of all I am really satisfied with the new design of Honda Amaze. But power wise its too poor, really looses power while trying to accelerate, then there is the issue of low mileage, it has been 5000 km now and avrage milage I get in the city is around 11 to 12 km per litre.
Safety wise very poor build quality

Honda Amaze Expert Review

Honda Amaze

The Honda Amaze has always been a successful proposition for the company, particularly with its attractive design language and competitive price tag over the years.

How is the Design?

The Honda Amaze has undergone a massive change over the last few years. The latest version of the Amaze looks and feels completely different. The looks, while polarizing to an extent, make it look more enticing on the road without a doubt. The overall styling remains quite similar although there is a thick chrome touch for the grille while there are newer slats for the downward mesh. The top-end versions now come with LED projector headlights and LED DRLs. The front bumper has been revised slightly with new surrounds in chrome for the fog lamps. The door handles get the chrome touch while diamond-cut alloys also reinforce the sleeker look. One thing the Amaze misses is slightly broader options in terms of tyres. The rear has a new C-shaped tail lamp cluster with a revamped bumper and a nifty chrome touch here as well. The sedan looks more premium and appealing this time around.

How does it perform?

Petrol 1.2 litre 88.7 hp 110 Nm
Diesel 1.5 litre 78.9 hp/98.6 hp 160 Nm/200 Nm

The Honda Amaze gets the 1.2 litre four cylinder i-VTEC petrol unit with the i-DTEC 1.5 litre diesel engine. You also get choices in terms of 5-speed CVT automatic and manual transmission systems. The petrol engine is refined and you will feel this even while idling. The vibrations are minimal and there is lower noise as well. The engine gets up to speed swiftly and is excellent for city driving. The only thing is that the mid-range is somewhat flatter and you will have to downshift for overtaking swiftly. The tall fourth-gear is what makes this slightly niggling at higher speeds on the highway. The engine has a good top-end with nice power delivery and confident revs. The manual transmission system is fun and sporty while the CVT is better for city driving needs. The diesel engine is still refined although the petrol engine feels better to drive. It feels more powerful though and could be a better option for covering longer distances on a regular basis.

How’s the mileage?

• Diesel Automatic- 24.7 kmpl
• Petrol Automatic- 18.6 kmpl
• Petrol Manual- 18.6 kmpl
• Diesel Manual- 24.7 kmpl

How’s the driving experience?

The Honda Amaze offers excellent drivability overall, while the suspension can take poor stretches nicely. It also contains overall noise and vibrations. Yet, insulation could have been slightly better, especially since road noise does filter into the cabin when you press on the accelerator. The Amaze drives and handles reasonably well, while being planted and stable while cornering as well. The light steering is decent for maneuvering the car in the city although it may not be a preferred pick for those desiring a sportier driving experience.

What’s the interior like?

The Honda Amaze gets silver dashboard, steering wheel and door card accents this time. The cabin remains practical and premium enough with great visibility, simple controls, and thoughtful storage spaces galore. The dual-tone theme is also nifty although some plastics are still not as premium as one would expect. The front seats offer good support and cushioning for users while the seating position is good. The front central armrest is an optional accessory that you should choose. There are many storage spaces though the one for the phone is not large enough. The rear seats also have good cushioning and comfort, with decent thigh support and knee room alike. Headroom is however slightly less for those who are taller. The rear seats can take three people although it is more suited for two passengers. The central armrest at the back is also slightly lower than desired. The Amaze does not have rear air conditioning and this is a big miss in this category along with adjustable rear headrests. The features are decent enough, with the digital MID, steering mounted controls, automatic climate control, 7-inch touch screen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and more.

Tech and infotainment

The Honda Amaze comes with the basics including a 7 inch touch screen infotainment system which is slightly dated in terms of its look and feel. There is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with steering mounted controls. There is also automatic climate control and the impressive digital MID alongside.

Safety equipment

The Honda Amaze comes with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, rear parking sensors and other basic safety features. Top-end variants come with the rear view camera and automatic headlights. The rear view camera’s quality, however, leaves a lot to be desired.

Which variant to buy?

You can consider the E variant which gets the basic safety features, the MID, power steering, rear parking sensor, power socket, and power windows. The pricing is affordable although there is no CVT option. Most people will like to go for the slightly costlier S variant with its aesthetic enhancements, power door locks, keyless entry, central locking, and some other features. The V variant comes with 15-inch alloy wheels, LED DRLS, the 7-inch MID, automatic climate control and more. The top-end VX is the most expensive and gets all the connectivity features and GPS along with the reverse camera and cruise control. If you can stretch it, then this is the variant to opt for.

Which cars compete in the segment?

The Honda Amaze takes on the Maruti Suzuki Dzire which offers good fuel economy, attractive features, and contemporary styling. Then there is the Hyundai Aura which also offers good features and engine options. The Tata Tigor is a pocket-friendly option in the category with decent features. The Ford Aspire is also another choice for buyers in the category. The Dzire has a sportier petrol version while the Aura has a more premium touch to it. The Tigor is a better value proposition. The Ford Aspire may be a safer car to drive. However, the Honda Amaze is priced right and continues to be a good pick for its styling, refinement, comfort, and overall proposition.

Final Verdict on Amaze

Compared to its rivals the Amaze still comes at a premium which in a price sensitive segment is not ideal. Overall though a well-proportioned car has become better with a more likeable exterior and a cabin that feels more premium. It has managed to create a space of its own in this competitive segment

All You Need to Know About the Amaze

When Honda launched Amaze in 2013 with a lot of fanfare, the company was targeting a segment that was in flux. Honda was facing the big players then in the market and it broke a tradition by introducing the diesel version of the car. The car was given a facelift before it was presented in an auto expo back then.

Honda Cars India recently unveiled the new-generation Amaze at the Auto Expo 2018. Talking a whole new shape with new and bold styling, the new Honda Amaze subcompact sedan will go on sale in India in the upcoming 2018-19 fiscal year. First launched in 2013, the current generation of the Honda Amaze has been in the market for about five years now and while the car did receive a facelift in mid-2016, it's now time that Honda finally brings in the new-gen model. We told you a lot about the new Honda Amaze from the unveiling event at the Auto Expo 2018, and here's all that we know about the new-gen Amaze.

This is the second-generation model of the Honda Amaze subcompact sedan and it is among the three new cars that Honda India plans to launch in the upcoming financial year.

The new Honda Amaze is based on an all-new advanced platform, unlike the outgoing model, which is based on the Brio hatchback's platform.

The new Honda Amaze, shown at the Auto Expo is also being developed at Honda's R&D base in Thailand but has also seen more inputs from the Honda India engineering team. Honda's Tapukara plant in Rajasthan will be the global supply base for the engines for the new Honda Amaze.

Visually, the new Honda Amaze gets an all-new bold design and shows no reminiscence of the current-generation Honda Amaze. The car talks inspiration by the new-generation Honda Accord that was launched in India last year, and a fair bit from the WR-V.

The new-gen Honda Amaze gets an all-new face with a protruding nose, a fat chrome grille, flanked by a pair of new wraparound headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights. The new Amaze also gets a new muscular front bumper with a wide air dam with honeycomb-patterned grille, and a large plastic cladded enclosure for the new round fog lamps.

The new Amaze gets extensively improved proportions, which are seen from the profile view. Unlike the previous model, this one doesn't look like a hatchback with a boot and more like a proper sedan. And the prominent yet simple character lines further enhances its looks along with the new 15-inch alloys.

The rear section looks all-new with a new boot-lid, and new LED tail lamps, which essentially look like an inverted form of the WR-V's tail lamps, and a beefy rear bumper with subtle lines.

The cabin looks a bit similar to the outgoing model with some minor changes. Honda has, however, loaded the new car with features, including a new 7-inch Digipad touchscreen infotainment system. This system offers smartphone integration, navigation and a host of other features.

Honda only showcased the petrol version of the car which comes with the same 1.2-litre engine remains unchanged and comes with 87 bhp under its hood. However, the 1.5-litre diesel engine will also be on offer when the car is officially launched. However, we expect the engine to get some fine-tuning to offer better fuel efficiency and maybe even a little bit more power.

The transmission options will include the 5-speed manual gearbox that will come as standard for both petrol and diesel models. The Amaze right now also gets an option CVT automatic transmission for the petrol model, and we can hope for a diesel automatic as well with the new Amaze.
