A few days back, we told you that Audi is all set to debut the new generation A6 sedan at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. However, the German car-makers have revealed the 8th generation A6 luxury sedan in full metal and we love it. The 2019 Audi A6 adds numerous innovations to the segment, with an all-digital MMI touch response system, smoother suspension with enhanced sportiness; all this makes the new generation Audi A6 more luxurious than its predecessor. The Level 3 autonomous feature is just an added bonus. However, the question remains, will it make to India? And the answer is, yes! We expect the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series challenger to come to India by early next year.

In terms of design and styling, the 2019 Audi A6 resembles the new A8 and the A7 Sportback, with its taut surfaces, sharp edges and striking lines. The long hood, long wheelbase and short overhangs balances out the sporty proportions of the luxury sedan; while the wide, low-slung single frame grille, the flat headlights and contoured air inlets only compliments it. Audi supplies headlights in three different versions, with the top-of-the-line version gets HD Matrix LED headlights and five horizontal lines that form the DRL signature. The lighting signature of the tail lights is made up of a single horizontal line and nine vertical segments for each unit. In profile, the A6 gives the impression that it has reduced height; this is because of the three striking lines and the taut contours. The roof line tapers into flat C-pillars, giving a proper look of its silhouette. The short trunk lid ends in a curved separating edge, while the chrome strip accentuates the three-dimensional sculpture of the rear and connects the rear lights.

The redesigned wheel suspension is made out of lightweight aluminum. Despite the larger wheels measuring up to 21 inches, the 2019 Audi A6 has improved ride and noise comfort. Brakes with fixed calipers made from aluminum are fitted to the front axle. Audi provides a choice of four variants for the suspension setup: the conventional steel spring suspension, the sport suspension, the suspension with damper control, and the adaptive air suspension, also with controlled damping.

Step inside the 2019 Audi A6 and you will be welcomed by a black-panel design, a sleek instrument panel and more legroom than the outgoing model. The boot capacity remains unchanged at 530 liters and the trunk lid can be opened electrically with a kicking motion. The centre console gets the two MMI touch response display, both 8.6-inches. There is also an option for a 10.1-inch upper screen.

All engines in the 2019 Audi A6 come with the company's new mild-hybrid technology which has a belt alternator starter (BAS) that works together with a lithium-ion battery. At launch, Audi will offer the new A6 with two engines - one diesel and one petrol unit. The 3.0 V6 turbocharged TFSI petrol engine can churn out max power of 335 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque, while the 3.0 TDI diesel engine produces maximum power of 282 bhp and peak torque of 620 Nm. Talking about the digits, the new A6 has a top speed of 250kmph and can go from standstill to 100kmhp in just 5.1 seconds. Both engines get a 8-Speed automatic Tiptronic gearbox, while a 7-Speed automatic S tronic is standard.
