Toyota's flagship sedan is making a comeback in its 5th generation avatar, as the Avalon sedan will get a major update since 2012. Set to make its debut at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) 2018, Toyota has released a teaser image of the front headlight of the new generation Avalon sedan suggesting the sedan will keep the two-tiered large grille from the previous generation. Along with the 2019 Avalon, Toyota will also showcase the 2018 Camry at the NAIAS 2018.

While the company has not revealed much details of the 2019 Toyota Avalon, we expect it to be built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, with underpinnings from the Camry, C-HR and Prius. Under the hood, the 2019 Avalon will continue with the same powertrain as its predecessor, a 3.5-litre engine coupled with a hybrid motor, while the 2.5-litre petrol engine teams up with an electric motor.

In terms of safety features, the 2019 Avalon will come with Toyota's Safety Sense technology that includes autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning and adaptive cruise control.
