The new Maruti Suzuki Alto is set to hit the road tomorrow and is expected to be quite a big step up over its predecessor. It will be underpinned by Maruti's modular Heartect platform and will see a significant upgrade in its design, interiors, creature comforts and powertrain options. Earlier this week, the company also commenced accepting pre-bookings for the hatchback for a token amount of Rs. 11,000 and deliveries are likely to begin once the car is launched. Here's what to expect from the new Maruti Suzuki Alto.

Design
As far as the design is concerned, the test mules of the new Maruti Suzuki Alto spotted earlier revealed the new design language adopted by the company. Expect the new Maruti Suzuki Alto to be more rounded than before with a prominent haunch at the rear section of the car, identical to what we saw on the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio. A more sculpted tailgate as compared to the flat and upright unit from the current model, and a larger glasshouse are a few of the new design elements hinted at in the new Alto.
Interior
On the inside, the new Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 will receive a massive overhaul in terms of the design and tech. The design changes include a redesigned dashboard, instrument cluster, and steering wheel.
Features
The new Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 will also feature the 7.0-inch SmartPlay Studio infotainment system offering navigation, Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto connectivity. Other features will include steering mounted audio controls, electrically adjustable Outside Rear View Mirrors (ORVMs) and keyless entry among others.
Engine
As far as powertrain is concerned, Maruti Suzuki is likely to offer the Alto K10 with the tried & tested 1.0-litre, three-cylinder K-Series engine belting out 67 bhp at 5500 rpm and 89 Nm of peak torque at 3500 rpm. The engine will be mated to a five-speed manual gearbox as standard while the company will also offer the AGS or AMT unit with the new Maruti Suzuki Alto K10. The new Maruti Suzuki Alto k10 will take on the likes of the Renault Kwid in the Indian market while will also cannibalize with the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and Celerio.
